I have no problem with the trips and I have no problem with the federal government footing the bill, but local and state governments and private businesses should not be taking a hit or being penalized.

This is true for all presidents. There were plenty of stories of local business losing money when Obama was in town because they were basically shut down for hours or days.

If I own a charter plane service and I cannot operate while the president is there, that's BS.

I have a problem when the President spends half a billion in non essential travel and security costs in a single year.

I agree with this and it seems that was the point Rubio was making. Not sure why this thread turned into 'my President vs your President' and 'I'm less than a hypocrite than you' competition.

Perhaps the Presidential security detail is too big at times and causes too much of a disturbance. Who is to say it isn't bloated just like so many other government departments.
