the Sixers have equal confidence in signing him.

If that were true they wouldn't be trying to trade for him. I really think Holiday is the Pels to lose, the question is, if Philly throws a full max at him, $31 million, do the Pels match? $20-$25 million is already iffy territory, if you go full max then you do have to start wondering if Rubio + trade assets for Jrue + $17 million in salary difference between Rubio/Holiday is better than keeping Holiday at all costs. Or rather paying him that much makes will make Holiday the new Asik just like Asik replaced Gordon.

As much cap space as Philly has would they really throw the max at Holiday?

Plan is to do a trade like this, then stretch or dump the other center this summer. Then, trade the 2017 pick for another young vet (think Butler if they get top 2 pick, guys like Fournier and Hezonja if pick is 6-10), and re-sign Jrue

They think this would give them a good team as early as next year and they would still be young enough to continue to grow in future

Why not throw the max at him if you are Philly and really want him?

They are in such a unique position to overpay with few consequences that if you are Demps that has to be concerning you if you don't want to max him.

I mean who does Philly need to re-sign? Ilyasova? Covington in 2019 and then Embiid in 2020?

Front load Jrue or just max him outright if you are Philly. They can more then afford it.
