At least she could teach our mens team how to play defense.

Ladies def. Bama 48 - 41 to move to 16-7 (5-5 SEC). Outscored Bama 13-2 in the 4th.

I was ready to let her go ,but this year she has done a decent job. Next year she has a best players coming back plus she has a 6'6 girl that sat out this year with bad knee. She also has one of the top players in the country coming in next year and she is 6'4.so next year should be her year

If he actually does do something, do you really want Joe Alleva making another major hire for LSU?

You don't normally fire basketball coaches that are about to make the tournament.

Probably so but pretty disappointing after a good start. Blowing the big lead at A&M was a tough loss.

I do think she can coach, but she's gotta get more good players in here. From admittedly limited action I've seen, she has two right now. And is Moncrief a senior?

I've said it before, she is drawing a salary that dictates better results than she is producing. That is a legit issue IMHO.

They currently have an RPI of 27. They will make the tournament barring a huge collapse. They aren't going to fire a basketball coach who makes the tournament. I sure thought she would do better at LSU though.

Like her or not, she can coach. Getting talent has been the problem. She finally has a good class coming in. She is a keeper.

But she has only won 7 of her last 26 conference games.

Combined with men's basketball and LSU is somewhere around 8-37 in the past 45 SEC games...

She needs to go
She will never compete for the national championship
She's way overpaid

This year is like Curly beating Bama-

Good class relative to what she's been getting but still not good enough to approach where LSU was when they went to 5 straight Final Fours, and that really wasn't all that long ago.

I like Nikki, she can coach, but I'll say it once again, she needs to produce at a level commensurate with the relative salary she is being paid. Just making the tournament ain't that. She won't have the luxury of home games in the first two rounds anymore, we've lost that luxury.

Should be gone, had time enough and below 500 in conference!!!!

If she makes the tourney, she is not being fired!! She has them in position to make the tourney.
I think she can coach, she just hasn't been a recruiting dynamo.
Also, replacing Jones has to be the priority above all else. Concentrate on that search and absorb the JJ buyout this year.

The expectations have been successfully lowered. We made what with Pokey, five straight Final Fours and usually with the top player in the country a Lady Tiger?

Nikki lowered the bar herself and now many celebrate a possible tourney bid. Face it "making the tourney" for an SEC WBB program is not even the bare minimum.

If expectations are lowered, they are lowered.

Let's just be honest about it.

You do recall that Nikki didn't replace Pokey and that there was a coach here for 4 years in between, right? Nikki didn't inherit a program that was coming off a run of 5 straight Final Fours. She inherited a program that didn't make the NCAA tournament Chancellor's last year.

Did Nikki Fargas save her job this year?

Absolutely.

This year is good enough. Plus, the timing of firing Fargas is terrible given the state of the mens program and the fact that they will be replacing Jones this year.

There is ZERO chance she's fired.
