Brewery and restaurant recommendations Portland and Seattle

I'm going to spend 3 days in both Portland and Seattle in June. I was hoping some of you could recommend some good places in each city. I am not renting a car, so any recommendations should be in the city. Very much appreciated.

Never been up that way, but I'm pretty sure you can throw rock in any direction and hit a brewery or brew pub. Have fun, I'm jealous

What did you have there? Looks promising.
Regarding breweries, I understand that Oregon is beer heaven, but I was hoping some of our well traveled beer connoisseurs could point me to the best of the best as I only have a few days in each location. Anyone who went to Seattle for the UW LSU game I would love to hear your input.

For Seattle, the best breweries are Holy Mountain and Fremont
Jax should be here shortly to help you with Portland

We got their late afternoon...late lunch/early dinner. I got one of the grilled salmon entrees and my FIL got a bunch of different oysters we tried. Good food and cool atmosphere.

I had a great time at 10 Barrel in Portland. It has a rooftop patio..

puffulufogous - Portland is very walkable, and recommendations will depend on where you'll be staying.
Let me know. I would recommend the Pearl District. Lots of great breweries in that area around 12th and Burnside on the NW side. Deschutes, Fathead's, 10 Barrel, and McMenamins are all within 4 blocks of each other. Breakside is opening a place in that area soon, too. Unfortunately, Great Notions new brewpub in that area won't be open yet.
Also, many great restaurants in that area (although the breweries have good food, too). Tasty and Alder, Jake's Famous Crawfish, Little Bird, Lardo, Clyde Common, and the list goes on. You can probably just walk around and stumble on a little hole in the wall in that area. I believe Coater and Mrs. Coater did that a couple of times this fall, and had good luck. There's also a food cart pod on 10th and SW Alder that has about 65 food carts. Yep. 65 of them. Great if you're looking for an inexpensive bite and don't know what you want. There's a little park across the street that you can sit down in to eat.
If you're there on a Saturday, the Saturday market and the Portland Farmers Market are outstanding. The Saturday market is right on the Willamette River and has fantastic views of the river and Mt. Hood. Again, walkable in the Pearl District.
Let me know if you'll be in a different area of town, and I can point you to some places.
ETA:. 10 Barrel's rooftop bar is superb. The weather should be great in June. Breakside's new place has a rooftop bar as well. It is probably about 15 blocks away from 10 Barrel though. Breakside probably has the best beer of any of them. I just haven't been to that brewpub, yet.

We are staying on the east side of the river is Sunnyside. There seems to be some decent restaurants in that area. Probably not a ton of breweries there though. Any recommendations there? Either was the public transportation is pretty good so we were definitely going to spend a day doing downtown and the pearl so I will hit up some of those places.

Lots of restaurants out that way. I would just recommend just going to what looks good.
Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB) is out that way. If you're looking for beer, Belmont Station is not far from where you are. On the East side, there are a number of cool areas to go to. Division St, around 31st Ave is really nice. Mississippi Ave is cool. If you go to Cascade Barrel House on Belmont, there are a lot of great restaurants and beer places nearby. The Commons Brewing, Trifecta, Loyal Legion, Base Camp Brewing, Le Pigeon restaurant, Growler Guys, etc...

Spent last summer in Portland. Our favorite restaurant was Andina in the Pearl District. Go to the happy hour and try the carne empanadas and get the habanero pepper vodka cocktail.

Good suggestion. I'd also add that the Rogue Distillery and Public House is right across the street from there.
It is more of a hole in the wall, but I had a nice time there.

Both of these places are within a block of Andina, and within 3 blocks of Fathead's and Deschutes. Right across the street from Deschutes is Powell's Books - one of the top independent book stores in the country. It takes up a whole city block. Lardo is a couple of blocks away from Deschutes, and has great sandwiches and a legit tap list, too.
There are tons of dining options just walking around.
In the Sunnyside area, though, Apizza Scholls is a legit, and it may be within walking distance of where you're staying. It's on Hawthorne. Hawthorne and Belmont are both streets you can find all kinds of eclectic and ethnic restaurants and bars.
As far as beer goes, Belmont-Station is one of the top taprooms in the country. It's very low key, and has a bottle shop that is fantastic (1400+ beers). Nice place for lunch - they have a food cart in their basement, and they make great sandwiches. Horse Brass and Bazi Bierbrasserie are also taprooms that have received national attention that are in that area.

We ate there while in Seattle and it was good but in a very touristy area. I was impressed since I expected a crap chain that churns out overpriced reheated food to tourists. It was pretty expensive but for fresh seafood you kind of expect that.
I got the spicy crab and corn chowder and it was delicious.

I highly recommend Brouwer's Cafe in Seattle. It's not a brewery but a Belgian-themed restaurant with a huge list of Belgian beers. Great food, beer and atmosphere. It's located in the Fremont neighborhood, north of downtown and west of UDub.

In Seattle -- Brouwer's is legit. Also must check out Chuck's Hop Spot -- best bottle shop / bar I've seen. My favorite breweries were Rueben's and Fremont.
