Who's the worst vocalist to ever make it big?

It has to be Billy Corgan, right? I love the Pumpkins, but Corgan has a face made for radio, and a voice made for - well, not for singing. But his... unique vocal stylings fit perfectly with the sound of the Pumpkins and of the grunge era in general. Truly a man at the exact right place and time.

surprised it took this long for someone to mention him. He didn't have an American Idol voice for sure. But he could hit the notes and his phrasing was unique....which is what you need without a pretty voice. I actually find most "pretty" voices to be boring because their phrasing is so generic.
