Obviously. He COULD be describing a revolver but that's an unusual way of describing not loading the gun
He didn't say
"there wasn't a round in the cylinder"
"the chamber or cylinder wasn't loaded"
And he refers to the second shot as the second bullet, but there was no first bullet. I certainly believe that he was at a bar though

I don't think that's far fetched. I think it's less likely than him not being able to rack the slide and fire while having his arms restrained by multiple people
This is a tall tale regardless. It's very doable as I said but it does further erode my willingness to believe him

He could have very easily meant the 2nd trigger pull. Why do you have such a hard on over this? Seems like an odd thing to get riled up over.

I'm not. My wife and I were laughing because it's such an absurd story and obviously a lie
He also didn't say that he racked the slide but he offers up the caliber when telling the story
I've never seen this guy before tonight so if you're like me, watch this guy and tell me whether or not you think it's bullshite

I understand, there are holes in the story, but I will say, you know when you're looking down the barrel of a .45.
.45, .40, 9mm

That's all I'm saying
His story has a few holes just about the gun before considering how insane his story is...and you'd think there would be criminal charges or a police report. I'm guessing I won't find one if I look

When I was a squid they issued 9 mm beretta
I worked in the armory because I manned a .50 cal mount. Navy strikes me as the administrative type.
Navy, if you carry a brief case I swear to god

Most are for sure. But like any branch there are so many specialties it's hard to dog on them without knowing specifics
Don't know many marines who have been to hell week, the ones that did left the corps behind for a bigger challenge

Nothing wrong with it at all but I knew so many khakis who carried briefcases that we confirmed to be empty it was a running joke...including a CO. Only one who carried shite in his briefcase was this salty as frick master chief.

Everybody seems to like him. IRL he's a great guy, but, I don't like him on TV. His time is past.

I'll say this. I believe his story that he was an alcoholic. That's what john kasich is going to look like pretty soon

I'd stop drinking too if someone put this to my head and wanted someone to pull his trigger:

Now whether or not I carry a briefcase now is a private matter. I'm an 1830 by designator (former 1630).

Unless it was a .45 revolver, which would fit his story.
How many .45 revolvers do you see outside of a western movie?
bikers don't carry .45 revolvers.
You don't 'chamber a round' in a .45 revolver
Beckel was full of shite - trying to rehabilitate himself - hell he was drunk as a skunk on 'the five' before he left (fired?)
edit - oh, and how can he be effective working with alcoholics when he declares "I really hate these guys."

I'm pretty sure he was drunk during this segment

ETA: I considered that it was a revolver but his language suggested otherwise though surely it's possible it was a revolver, just less probable than beckel having made up the entire story
Down at a place called The Jug
With a girl named Linda Lu
When in walked a man
With a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you know who.
He said, "Hey there fellow,
With the hair colored yellow,
Watcha tryin' to prove?
'Cause that's my woman there
And I'm a man who cares
And this might be all for you."
I was scared and fearing for my life.
I was shakin' like a leaf on a tree.
'Cause he was lean, mean,
Big and bad, Lord,
Pointin' that gun at me.
I said, "Wait a minute, mister,
I didn't even kiss her.
Don't want no trouble with you.
And I know you don't owe me
But I wish you'd let me
Ask one favor from you."
"Won't you give me three steps,
Gimme three steps mister,
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps
Gimme three steps mister,
And you'll never see me no more."
