New NASCAR format

Under the new format, races will consist of three stages, with championship implications in each stage. The top-10 finishers in each stage will be awarded additional championship points. The winner of the first two stages of each race will receive one playoff point, and the race winner will receive five playoff points. Each playoff point will be added to a driver's reset total following the 26th race, if that competitor makes the playoffs.
The structure also ensures that competition will be dialed up throughout the duration of the 26-race regular season, as points for both stage winners and race winners will transfer into the postseason -- and an official regular-season champion will be crownded, and rewarded with 15 playoff points to the driver's playoff reset of 2,000. The stage format also gives fans a pair of natural breaks in the action.

They're making it way too complicated. All they need to do is get rid of the chase, have first place worth 40 points, and go in descending order after that(last place will be 1 point). No chase, no segments. Best driver all year wins.

Atleast Hooters is back in NASCAR.

I like the Chase
I like giving bonuses for drivers that win portions
My plan is get rid of win and in
I'd set the Chase field as such
Most wins
Most points
Winner of first half
Winner of second half
Then once those spots are filled top 6 left in points that did not qualify via those 4 stipulations get in to chase
Chase is 3 races cut 3. 3 more races cut 2. 3 more races cut 1
Last race winner takes all and top 4 positions in Chase get top 4 via points in Homestead

I'm not entirely to sure if I really like or hate this, I guess I'll give it a shot like everything else that has come from Brian France.

Brian France is simply trying too hard to reinvent the wheel. The chase isn't necessary. Let the man who's been the most consistent claim the title. No need for a playoff. No need for segments in a 400 mile race. They're manufacturing drama for the sake of having drama.

I guess they want to reward a Larson running top 3 all day then getting jacked by Kes and finishing 32 type thing

I'm watching this presser, it looks like these guys got their marching orders to praise tf outta this new format. I haven't heard one negative from any driver yet

They've done the same thing for the chase announcement and when they changed the rules a few years back. I guess they must love everything

Let's see what they say in a post race interview when one of them gets fricked

Not intentionally crashing the driver in front of you with no penalty?

My days of watching are done. This screams trying too hard. Not even going to give it a chance. They've devalued pit stops and race strategy so much

This is very similar to what they do with the All Star Race. Also the race they at Daytona the week before the 500

Used to enjoy tuning in on Sunday's, kicking back, and watching a race. They've ruined the sport for me, went to Bristol last spring and it wasn't even half full, it's a shame
