The outside air you breath, exhaust fumes you breathe when driving to work, even the air the dirty, germ filled air ducts in your office and home is worse than walking through a puff of second hand smoke

Next time you approach an entrance where people are smoking, just hold your breath and walk right through it..

That link makes zero mention of second hand smoke, or tobacco for that matter.

Regardless, you weren't making much of a point anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Well in that case, let's just get smoke machines to cloud up all the air. We're all doomed anyway, right?

Or I won't.

Huh, got it. Throwing burger wrappers out the window is just as trashy and should be fined as harshly.

common sense, something I think you have, should make it clear that the air along the Mississippi is worse to breathe in than second hand smoke.

I spoke too soon with the common sense comment Its pretty obvious people bitch about the dangers of one substance (second hand smoke) while being completely unaware of what they are breathing in most of the time. I am sure the fumes from gasoline are good for you right?

There was still smoking on flights into the 1990s

Yep. I remember flying as a kid in the 80's and being surrounded by all sides by chainsmokers. People used to smoke in the grocery store too.

So your solution is to expose myself to even more harmful things? And you're laughing at my sense?

I hate people that smoke at doorways. You have to walk through their smells.

I don't think its a common occurrence that you have to walk through a cloud of smoke to enter most businesses

And? Why expose myself to any of it if I don't have to?

And why do you care so much?

You very clearly do. You're so wrapped up in it that you think telling me to expose myself to even more harmful things than I need to is in anyway logical.

Maybe what a a lot of people would like to believe, but not even close to true. There have been numerous studies that found exhaled smoke contained much higher levels of toxic chemicals than even chemical plant emissions.

Study that looked at just Benzene,

Data from EPA's TEAM Study allow us to identify the major sources of exposure to benzene for much of the U.S. population. These sources turn out to be quite different from what had previously been considered the important sources. The most important source of exposure for 50 million smokers is the mainstream smoke from their cigarettes, which accounts for about half of the total population burden of exposure to benzene. Another 20% of nationwide exposure is contributed by various personal activities, such as driving and using attached garages. (Emissions from consumer products, building materials, paints, and adhesives may also be important, although data are largely lacking.) The traditional sources of atmospheric emissions (auto exhaust and industrial emissions) account for only about 20% of total exposure.[b] A number of sources sometimes considered important, such as petroleum refining operations, petrochemical manufacturing, oil storage tanks, urban-industrial areas, service stations, certain foods, groundwater contamination, and underground gasoline leaks, appear to be unimportant on a nationwide basis.

it sounds like you're doing everything you can to justify smokers being able to smoke wherever they want. do you really think children should have to breathe all this second hand smoke just to protect your "rights?"
