Paging F150 Mechanics - Update in Original post.

I have a 2011 F150 4x4 that has started making a low growling noise. It's not constant but I really noticed it this morning like it's getting worse. I switched to 4HI this morning going straight down the road to see if it would change anything and the driver's side front end popped a couple times. Again, I wasn't turning. Any ideas? Could it be the IWE's going bad? Vacuum solenoid?
It's got 112k if that helps. Thanks.
EDIT FOR UPDATE: Mechanic found a vacuum leak in the line near my driver's side front hub. It wasn't getting enough vacuum to fully disengage the hub so sometimes it was still engaged, sometimes not. Replaced the vacuum line and all is good. Thanks for the help!

Per post in this board, timing chain.

It would be helpful to know if it makes it in gear. At what speeds? Does the sound change (pitch) when accelerating or coasting?

The 4H on those more or less act as a AWD system, meaning all 4 wheels are always searching for traction but the most power is sent to the tire that has least traction. The popping in 4H is normal
Ecoboost or 5L?

I have 2011 V8 F-150 and I swear everything that can go wrong with it has. Right at 100k and I don't think it will last much longer. What is it with this year model?

Axle Actuator. Big problem so far, should end with a class action suit eventually. You probably have electric locking diffs, they have been failing quite frequently. Take to dealership and ask them if there are any TSBs(Technical Service Bulletins) and if they see warranty info yet. Then they will know you know, and the more you know equals profit.

Get the hubs and bearings checked out. Just had to replace the assembly on my 06 Chevy last year. Sounds like the same shite mine was doing.
