Gotcha. Sounds like fun. Go do it. Tahoe is beautiful, but there isn't much scenery away from the lake. 1-2 days is plenty. The Sierra Nevadas south of there on CA Hwy. 395 are amazing... I'd highly recommend the John Muir Trail if it didn't require permits.
