absolutely

For those who can't afford to go. Makes them feel better about being poor.

I was under the impression that Sandals was very much an affordable vacation option. It seems like one of the cheaper, more affordable, convenient all-inclusive options available.

Is this not the case?

Went to one of the ones in St. Lucia (Regency?) & Antigua in my 20s. They were a blast then because of the free drinks. All the food was great because we were tanked most of the time. If that's not the crowd you want, you will probably have some bad days/nights there.

The amenities were excellent, the only downside with either was they let the natives on the beach try to push their excursions on you. They are extremely persistent and don't take "No" easily. And, when they finally understand "No", you have another one waiting for you in 15-20 feet. If they see you sleeping in a chair, they will help themselves to sit by your feet as they wait for you to wake up; or they stand behind you shouting at everyone that walks by until you wake up. We did all of our excursions through the resort bc we saw the Hostel documentary series

I'm asking for opinions because if it's a trashy place with trashy people and shitty food, I'm probably not going to enjoy my time there.

I follow. Usually the pricing will give you a good indication of your need for concern.

I mean, maybe. But, if you consider that airfare to some of the Caribbean islands for 2 people could be north of $1500 it's not really a cheap vacation. That, on top of whatever it costs to stay at a sandals for a week and you are looking at a > $5,000 vacation for two people. Maybe you consider this to be cheap, but a couple could take 4 cruises for that.
