I kid you not normally the one of the first three questions a woman would ask when I went on a date with or got to know was, "What is your longest termed relationship?"
Otherwise known as a shite test
If you answer that question honestly you failed the shite test and enter her frame.
The proper way to answer that question would be to be absurd.
"3 minutes"
shite test passed.

Did those Mexicans in your parking garage ever find you?

Wow, you really do not know a single thing about women do you?

Maybe they move in with her because they actually eventually do want to marry her and want to first see how they are as a couple once they live together?
My only question about this is why do they need to move in together to see this?

No need to let her know how about such matters. I always shut down probing questions like this from women because they are just shite tests.
Like when they ask how many women you have been with/slept with. My answer is always "Today? Just 4, I am usually up to 9 by now". shite test passed.
Or when a woman asks if I have a girlfriend. I usually say "A girlfriend?" then start to count on my fingers how many girlfriends I have. Then I reply with "2". shite test passed.
When a woman asks if you have a girlfriend or asks you how many women you have slept with, she isn't actually asking you if you have a girlfriend or how many women you have slept with. What she is really asking "Do other women find you attractive". It's covert.

I have never been asked that question on a first date, but maybe we're going after different girls. I am 32 and target the 24-32 age range. Some of the 28+ year olds have just set down roots, so that's AOK in my book. They are usually more interesting and have been "financially secure" their entire lives.
Goldennugget won't ever land a quality chick with his line of thinking though. If he can trick a girl into dating him, she'll be the type to leave him at the drop of a hat for the next big thing. That's a huge oversight all of these guys on reddit who pay for PUA advice overlook
Douchey guys land douchey girls

They don't necessarily. But for some this makes them more comfortable that they are making the right decision. My husband and I had preferred to live apart before we married...but circumstances came along that made living together a smarter option financially at the time.
There was a period of adjustment....like we argued over the silliest things at that time as we got used to living together. Obviously we still saw we were compatible with one another though.

Hammer, the woman I am currently talking to is 28 and I am 30. We both have white collar careers so I didn't really find it out of bounds for her to ask that question right off the bat because internally I was wanting to know the same thing. She and I have both valuable assets and live a certain quality of life that we both want to maintain and letting the "wrong" person into our life may not be the best thing to maintain those assets and quality of life.
Someone who is a relationship hopper never ever looks good to someone who is genuinely looking for something that lasts. Not to mention a red flag for that person leaving when times get tough.

OK. Thank you.
May I ask how you dealt with this situation with your religion?
And southern parents?
I take it you were engaged, so I guess that is different scenario than what the OP is rambling on about.

That was the biggest reason we didn't want to live together, my parents wouldn't care either way. However...both our leases were coming up very soon and he had been hearing lots of rumors about the threat of layoffs at his company. At that point we weren't engaged yet....but knew it was gonna happen for us at some point. We were trying to prepare ourselves for if the worst happened and he ended up being laid off from work(thankfully that didn't happen to him...just a bunch of his coworkers instead).

Is there anything dumber than marrying a woman when you could just live together?
Oh wait there is. Marrying someone you've never lived with is exponentially dumber.

Better to find out before marriage if y'all can stand living together.

I don't think you need the extreme of living under one physical roof together, but at the least you should do the de facto living together thing where you still have a separate place but stay together most days/nights. True, you don't get the same test result from not having that mandatory aspect of it, but it's a good compromise.
