Obligatory:

The slogan is personal to Fleck; the mantra was created shortly after his family suffered the death of his second son, Colt, in 2011, with Fleck eventually using it as a guiding ethos for his football team.

Western Michigan University’s board of trustees currently owns the trademark on the phrase, with proceeds from the trademark benefitting various community organizations in Kalamazoo.

If I were Western Michigan I would tell them to shove it up their arse and keep it

Yeah, I'm going to call that some left-wing loonies are going to tie that into slavery...

That seems like a reasonable response to a guy who put your program on the map and created the slogan himself.

If Fleck came up with the slogan, he seems like an idiot for not trademarking it himself.

As would any other coach in that situation. Nobody in that athletic department is mad at him for leaving.

I prefer the Irish version
"Close your eyes, and pull like a dog"

Seems too gimmicky. What's he going to do, drag this catchphrase around with him everywhere he goes?

You mean like Saban and "The Process"

You don't think WMU would have wanted him to stay? If they give over the slogan, I hope it's for the price of one home game against Minnesota and one against any other B1G team not named Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State

Didnt Schiano have "Chop the Wood" at Rutgers. Or maybe "Bring the Wood."
