Also as someone pointed out earlier. Foster gets to play downhill. He has one job and that is to get the ball carrier.
So if you have dominant DL that can allow him to roam free and his only job is playing the ball then he is your man.

Foster is about 3 years away from CTE related violent crimes. Dude makes every tackle with his head.

Told my buddy this last night. We need a guy like him in the middle of our D

10 Was everywhere last night, some of you folks are frickin delusional.
How many of you cry every freaking weekend about wanting to have some badasses on the Saints D. Well HE IS A CERTIFIED BAD arse.

quote:That's the story on Foster. Look how long it took for someone with his athletic ability to crack the lineup. NFL teams may not have that much patience with a 1st rounder. He makes stupid plays that a great Bama defense can cover up. He like to do his own thing and that defense allows it. He also tries to intentionally injure opposing players and draws a lot of penalties. I hope he goes top 10 so that a better defender falls to us.
Dumber than a box of rocks is the word

quote:You think he has the leisure of playing like that in the NFL? He has 10 other players playing within a scheme while he is basically told to just go after the ball. He does not really play within a structure or scheme.

It's fricking Alabama and every LB that was in front him is in the NFL. That's why he didn't start until last year

Just stop. You don't know what you're talking about. He calls the plays for the Defense and is a leader. He reads the offense and makes adjustments on his own probably 1 out of every 4 plays.
He's a great player.

Foster is an unbelievable talent but is he absolutely wreckless when it comes to using the crown of his helmet & hitting ball carriers with his eyes facing the ground. He is not going to have a long NFL career using that tackling technique. He will either have a significant neck injury or constantly be in & out of concussion protocol throughout his playing days. He did it again last night, leading with his head down on the play where Watson got spun around trying to get a first down.
quote:
In the past, Foster has led with the crown of his helmet. He even did that when hitting Fournette. Foster had employed the help of a cowboy collar to avoid further damage to his neck, but the collar disappeared during the spring season – a good sign to his progress. And others agree with that belief.
“He’s tackling better, doing a lot better job,” defensive coordinator Kirby Smart said. “I think he put on some good weight over the summer to help protect himself from injuries.
“The big thing with him has always been health. He’s a really fast guy, he’s a really sharp guy, very intelligent guy, very instinctual player, but he’s been injury-prone. Some of that’s been from lack of bulk, some of that’s been from poor tackling and poor habits. So he’s tried to improve on that. He knows it’s an emphasis for him.”

quote:
Sure, Foster is capable of producing big hit after big hit. There’s video evidence to prove it. But more often than not, he leads with his eyes looking at the turf, not his target.
This season, and throughout his career, Foster has led with the crown of his helmet when tackling an opponent, trying to connect an earth-shattering collision. That’s led to neck and shoulder injuries, and he’s even knocked himself out on occasion, at least that’s the folklore that echoes from the practice field.
The hit on Fournette is a prime example of that. Notice when Foster pops up after making the hit on the LSU running back. He can’t lift his right arm during the celebration because he injures his shoulder on the hit by leading with the top of his helmet.

And both were on the field for literally all of Clemson's 99 total plays.

Id take both of them honestly (Foster and Anderson)

And yet it's the unheralded LSU lbs lighting up the NFL.

Payton will shock everyone by drafting O. J. Howard.
O.J. Howard isn't going to get picked early in the first round. Maybe late first, early second.

Yeah, that DL is so friggin good, I'm really suspicious of how easy it always seems for Foster to get in the backfield. I'm sure he's great though so why not. Still prefer Barnett though, he was a huge standout in his bowl game on a defense that wasn't anywhere near as dominant. Kinda like Suh was in that crazy bowl appearance he had before he was drafted.

Rueben Foster is simply a "m'er f'er" that our defense simply has not had in maybe decades.
