I don't understand why people on this board discount and refuse to hold terrorist organizations accountable when someone who has ties to them commits a so-called "lone wolf" attack.
"Welp, that dude just killed 20 people before dying in a shootout with the police. He was a "lone wolf", so the only thing we can do is pass more gun control legislation, because we can't blame it on Islamic Terrorist organizations, because that would be xenophobic."

Why do people continue to say it was just a lunatic lone wolf. He wasn't a lone wolf. He may have been mentally ill, but that doesn't mean that a sick, twisted organization didn't recognize that and use him as a tool in their war on western society.
But it doesn't mean they did either. "Lone wolf" is real bruh. So is murderous insanity, and delusion, and all sorts of other negative anti social behaviors unrelated to a terrorist group programing a guy to shoot up people in an airport.

That's not why he posted those pictures.
The one fingered ISIS salute was his point and only connection in the pictures.

I think he was acting on behalf of schizophrenia.

I would bet that same liberal sincerely believes southern culture is responsible for Dylann Roof and that he represents every white southerner and their way of thinking.

Nobody is discounting any of that. There is no evidence of that... yet. So just hold on for a minute before we start saying ISIL members have fingerprints on this. We don't know that.

You are connecting a ton of ideas together here. One thing at a time man.

Not saying that it doesn't exist. But why do all these lone wolves seem to go off on a murderous rampage after they become radicalized? I'm sure it's just a damn coincidence. We can't blame ISIS for this, right? The guy is a "lone wolf". Hell, for all we know, the guys from ISIS were probably trying to talk him out of it, right?
Was Dylan Roof a lone wolf? I don't know - was he associating with a group that encouraged him to kill black people? If so, then he wasn't a lone wolf. If the KKK was counseling him to do this, then they should be culpable, as well.
To me, a lone wolf is someone who is insane, who is triggered by a random event or events - his girlfriend dumps him, he gets bullied and reaches a tipping point, etc...

We absolutely can blame ISIS for the "lone wolf" attacks. They are the ones feeding the propaganda that turns these guys. They are not without blame.
But to me, there is a difference from a coordinated ISIS attack from someone that was sent directly by ISIS and someone that was radicalized by internet propaganda.

It appears Esteban Santiago is a "Targeted Individual" (TI).
So they create a narrative of Santiago without mentioning his history of association with ISIS and radical Islam. If there is no link, then so be it, he is a lone wolf, but it appears that he has a relationship with ISIS that should at least be debunked, if it is false. Clearly, he has ties to ISIS, even if he is only watching their videos on YouTube, so we can't discount it.
At this point, it is just as wrong to assume that he is a lone wolf who is loony tunes, as it is to assume that he is a radicalized terrorist. The truth may be somewhere in between.

Sometimes whacked out assholes are just whacked out . This may be a case of just that.

I think that's part of ISIS's strategy. They aren't sending warriors over here, they are sending recruiters. The recruiters are going after the easy targets. I thought we might start seeing them strap bombs on children or mentally handicapped people, but that would require too much involvement on their part. The only way to maintain plausible deniability is to find people who disenfranchised - people who, in the past, would have joined cults. They let these "lone wolves" do all of the work in exchange for a place in heaven with 72 virgins, or whatever...

Could be. So the connection to ISIS is just a coincidence, and he was going to do this anyway? I just don't buy that.

The existence of the terrorist ideology is the main issue here.
