Crazy as it may sound, now is the time to spend money. As long as that money is used for 1 time fixes.

Infrastructure, Wall, Ships, etc are one time expenditures. Why now? Interest rates are almost zero. The money is almost free.

What are the wrong expenditures? Government entitlement programs. Why? Because they are never ending and get expanded over time. When rates go up so does their associated costs.

The Battleships in 1941 were just a glorified gun platform. The Naval war was won with the carriers and planes. The battleships couldn't even keep up with the carriers.

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. I get a hard on for WWII stuff.

. Exactly. And the next one will be won with long range anti ship missiles and sea launched ground attack cruise missiles. Carriers are a big fat target that require massive amounts of logistical support and their own mini fleet of ships to protect them. That was fine when the only way to attack targets at long range or deep inland was aircraft with bombs. Today we have the technology to do all of that from a submarine that can remain undetected and smaller surface vessels that are cheaper and cost less to man and maintain.

I mean it all sounds logical, but it's just a bit scary to think these monstrous ships loaded with fastmovers would be ended by a sub.

Cutting federal funding to states that support sanctuary cities seems like a great place to start.

If we ever got to the point where a carrier was being attacked, there are good odds it would be with a nuke if the attacker had them...

That's even scarier. That would mean nukes would have turned into a conventional weapon of war.
