I think they still have their purpose. For anyone who's ever had gunk stuck in an electrical outlet, those things are a godsend for cleaning them out.

Square drive baw. Better for impact drive.

I drove about 3,500 of those sorry square drive deck screws several years back. Give me a torx any day. The screws are usually fine, but eventually you'll round one off, and your bit will get rounded off. A torx is much better if you're doing a lot of screwing.

That said, whether it's Phillips, star, or some other variation of a splayed drive, a whole lot of it depends on the quality of the tool and the screw

True, but with Phillips there are TONS of shapes and depths. Usually what happens is I don't know the exact size, so I get about 5 bits and see which one fits best (it usually doesn't). With a torx I can look at the screw and know exactly what size it needs.

Also with Phillips you usually have to apply some pressure to keep the bit from slipping out of the screw head. Not so with torx.

Nope. And he clearly hasn't met a girl who's parents aren't together who isn't a stripper. Wow get out much? Probably thinks he's really good friends with this one waitress at hooters

I bought 25lbs of 4" square tip screws and 25lbs of 3 1/2" star drive screws for a big project. While the square tip is light years ahead of phillips, it still isn't quite as good as the stardrive.

Throw them in the ocean? Yeah, good luck getting that approved by the EPA.

I laughed hard enough that I was forced to read your reply to the office.
