I don't hate it but you would have thought Taken was the best movie of all time reading this board when it first came out. All the threads were annoying as hell

The worst movie I've watched in a long time.

Everybody Wants Some!!! <---- not necessarily everyone I personally know loves this movie but it is very popular on this board. I have tried to watch three times and turned it off.

every bit of it I've seen was cringe inducing. It was like Linklater hired a bunch of college kids off the street and told them "do your best Wooderson impression" and that was that.

My answer is Djano Unchained. Utter crap. Felt like Tarantino trying to beg forgiveness for using the n word too much in his earlier films.

Mad Max Fury Road is decent but it is absolutely overrated.

I disliked Arrival but everyone seems to love it. Villeneuve is up there with Nolan for me after Prisoners and Sicario but that movie just really missed the mark for me.

Also, I've always thought the Bourne Ultimatum was extremely boring.

The Dark Knight. I think it is tremendously overrated and do not like it at all.

I pretty much despise the superhero genre, but that is just blasphemy

Hate is a strong word, and there are very few movies that I actually came away hating

So I'll go will disliked or overrated:

Sully (watched this last week and it felt like I was watching Hanks in a lifetime movie)
The Martian
Avatar
Majaority of Wes Anderson movies
95% of comic book movies

Also, I know I'm going to get a lot of heat for this, but all of the Star Wars movies.

You can throw Star Trek in there too.

I don't get people who try to look way too far into things like this.

Never once during the movie did I stop and think "you know what, I bet Tarantino is just making a movie where this black slave escapes because he used the n word in other movies" and for that reason I think this movie is utter crap.... Even tho he had white people using the n word like 137 times during said movie and had slaves literally beating another's brains in and one getting eaten by a dog...

the movie was utter crap because it was a one trick gimmick with minimal plot based around cartoonish violence. Awful screenplay. Also, Samuel L's character was one of the most annoying in recent cinematic history. My other observation was a side note to why I disliked this movie. Were we supposed to cheer when he blows away the white lady at the end?

Fair enough

I look at Django in a more comedic sense I guess. I thought Samuel Ls character was hilarious, as well as Walton Goggins character and the guy playing Big Daddy. And no, no one has to "cheer" at the ending or be mad or whatever. It was just the ending. I guess I just didn't take it as seriously as others may have

And it won the Oscar, the BAFTA, and the golden globe for that awful screenplay. And no, those awards don't always justify something as being great, but I'd say it's far from terrible

I know it won all those awards, and I can't fathom why other than Tarantino has garnered such a reputation that he can put out anything purporting to be daring and critics will fawn over it. To me Django was nothing but a one dimensional juvenile revenge fantasy. I wasn't bothered by the violence per se (because he traditionally uses it to great effect), but I was bothered by the fact that the violence was the entire movie. There was no trademark Tarantino wit or cleverness in the dialogue in my opinion, no exposition, hardly any character development. He resorted to cheap little flashbacks to drum up the paper thin relationship between Django and his wife. Leo's character was badly underused.. I really didn't like the pacing of the 'story' at all. Look at it next to Pulp Fiction and tell me it deserves to be mentioned in the same light. I'll agree with you on the Walton Goggins count though

Oh, in no way does it deserve to be next to pulp fiction at all. And yea, I definitely could have used more of Leo's character. But even in his movies like a pulp fiction or Inglorious Basterds I don't take them as being a serious drama because of his ability to mix comedy with ridiculous violence ("I shot Marvin in the face!" etc), so I guess it's hard for me to critique them as being a serious toned drama
