I don't know if I can even watch the game. It angers me how many years that have been wasted in mediocrity and worse with Alleva's two men's basketball hires (TJ and JJ).

I hope the players can play good enough to drag their anchor (CJJ) to victory. It's not a recipe for success to have the weakest link as the leader.

This could be one of the worst basketball games of the year to watch. Missouri is awful. Worst team in SEC. on par with LSU.
I don't have high hopes for the Kentucky game right now.

Yea but for Uk fans it will be fun. I'm talking about fans of both teams.

I would bet Kentucky minus whatever number they decide to put up there. I expect that we lose by close to 60 to them.

What really frustrates me was all the pre-season discussion and emphasis for CJJ to anyone who would listen was defense. We are committing to defense and putting a special emphasis on defense.

And then I read the paper this morning and they are talking about the need to commit to defense and getting better on defense.

Does this broken record ever stop?

At least the crickets get practice time to cheer on the team.

What makes you say this?

Because we are better talent wise at literally every position on the floor outside of Puryear vs Epps...but add in Sims vs Puryear and I like the matchup.

We have shitty coaching but it's not like Mizzou has anything to write home about

Mizzou has lost to North Carolina Central, Eastern Illinois, and Lipscomb this season. Never even heard of those schools. LSU wins big.

Thats fine, I probably wouldnt disagree with you talent wise. But we have been horrendous on the road under JJ, and Mizzou has faced tougher competition. To say we should win easily is just false.

They also played 3 top 25 RPI teams, only lost to Xavier by 1. With a decent amount of bad losses

Fun fact....take it for what it is worth. LSU plays Kentucky on February 7. That was the date in 2008 when President Lombardi told Bertman to fire John Brady....hmmmmm...could history repeat?

Anyways, I've stayed aboard the Johnny Jones journey that has become similar to that of the Titanic as long as I possibly can. The ship is sinking and as I look around, there are only a few of us still aboard, holding out hope for a miracle. Personally, I love the guy. Our paths have crossed on several occasions and I have found him to be genuine, generous, and a great person. I'm rooting hard for him. He is an LSU guy and he could be here til the day he dies if he could just win SOME. But I'm not blind. I see the same things the rest of you see. If this team can't win tonight and then at home Saturday against a very average Mississippi State team, then I'm officially done. I'm grabbing one of the few remaining life vests and jumping overboard with the rest of you.

Even if the score is:

LSU-more points

Mizzou-less points

As long as JJ is still the coach we lose.

What will have to happen for Jones to get fired this year?

I think what is concerning about this is in the eyes of some, and certainly the folks who helped get him the job as an unqualified applicant (IMHO) he has won SOME.

These folks will still point out that he's won more his first four years than any coach as if these comparisons were done in a vacuum and the circumstances and times other coaches took over don't matter.

He really is a nice person Grad, and I do believe genuine. I was not in favor of the hire but I did not want him to fail. He's a guy you pull for. But as you say, we all have eyes. And most of us can see what's happened.

Hard to believe this is something he can bounce back from and have success even at the level that would be considered successful for hoops at LSU.

This could be a 86-83 game or more like a 48-47 game........
Could go either way for either team.
