Does any other team have more than ten EE recruits?

Also, my question is how many players did Bama sign for the 2016 class, when all was said and done, and how many of those reported to fall practice in August?

Could someone inform me what is the exact limit on signees a team is allowed, is it only 28, and is that if three of their signees from the previous year did not report or qualify?

Brannon and/or Dean will grey shirt, the recruit from Ark. will be processed. Also 2 others are expendable. Plenty possibilities for new recruits.

I believe they had a DB quit earlier this season and 1 QB transfered. Now they have 2 more QBs announce they're transferring after final game. Pretty sure that frees up 4 adds to this seasons count they're allowed. Throw in a couple grey shirts and they can be at at least 30 this year.

Bama fan here, some say we will take 28 to 30 recruits this year. we have a long snapper and a FG kicker committed, so they maybe preferred walk ons in a way... Dean the CB is not coming to bama. Bannon is a greyshirt, not expected this year and Byers may be pushed out but I doubt it.. Also bama was three under the 85 limit this year and I believe we have three to five back counters to the 2016 class. I would say bama is setting at 23 guys committed right now, with Solomon,Kinlaw,Smith,Ruggs,Ray, and Parks to commit to us yet.. So that means 29 guys sign LOI's between the 16/17 class...Remember you can only offer a max of 25 LOI's per signing class.. So we backcount four or five back to the 16 signing class then use 24 or 25 of the LOI's for the 17 signing class...

What's their limit?

The only thing stopping them. Kids today think college football some type of received award on their way to NFL. The whole thing is turning to shite.

Alabama isn't bound by the same rules as other SEC schools.

quote:

On April 15, 2008, Saban was asked by reporter Ian Rapoport how he was going to handle the numbers and when does he start to worry about it? Saban replied "I'm not worried about them. It'll all work out. I mean, the whole thing has a solution to every issue. You don't put yourself in a position where you don't know what's coming." Rapoport responded, "So you're not going to tell us?" to which Saban replied "We know how it has to be managed, and it will be managed. It's none of your business. Aiight? And don't give me this stuff about the fans' need to know, because they don't need to know. Don't even ask. Aiight?"

quote:

In early 2011, after National Signing Day, Saban and the University of Alabama again became the subjects of heavy media criticism after they again appeared to have oversigned. When asked about the appearance of being oversigned during his Signing Day press conference, Saban gave a 431-word response[in which he denied being oversigned but refused to clarify the situation by explaining how many scholarship players departed the program after the 2010 season. Further raising questions about Saban and Alabama, Birmingham News journalist Kevin Scarbinsky revealed a few days after Saban's press conference that in numerous requests by the newspaper for the scholarship numbers of public universities in Alabama, the University of Alabama has been the only one to completely redact the numbers for every sport in which it participates.[

"If a Big Ten school oversigns, it has to explain to the conference office how it will have a scholarship available when those extra signees hit campus. Banking on a certain number of players to create their own exit strategies before fall camp doesn't cut it."

Not so in the SEC... why? Because it's Alabama.

"Why does Alabama refuse to provide information that every other Division I public school in this state provides? Why doesn't Saban himself step up and share the numbers that other coaches volunteer?"

You cannot sign and enroll more than 25 in a class under any circumstances.

Any amount over the 25 would have to go on the previous years class and sign as an early enrollee. This would mean the previous years class would have to have been less than 25 enrolled.

In addition to this you cannot have more than 85 total scholarship counters.

Just because you have available scholarships overall does not mean you have available spots in a recruiting class. You have 25 new scholarships to give out. You might have spots available if you didn't sign a full class the year before and you have early guys coming in.

The numbers that matter are total scholarships, the number of new scholarships counted the previous year, and the 25 new scholarships the school can give out in the current year.

The term "preferred walk-on" and "grey shirt" are interesting ones. For the most part they mean "paying my own way". Since these guys are recruited players the NCAA would consider them counters for scholarship numbers if they receive any kind of scholarship from the school at all and participate with the team. This is why kids from LA that could go to LSU on TOPS can't do that and save LSU a scholarship. NCAA would still count them toward the number.

Bottomline: It is VERY VERY DIFFICULT to get around counting towards the scholarship numbers. If you are on any kind of scholarship and play in a game...you probably count. If you were recruited in any way and are on the team and receiving any kind of scholarship...you likely count.
