Sig P238

Looking at single stack back-up piece that conceals easily, especially if I'm in situations where I can't IWB my PPQ. The Sig caught my eye, along with Kimber Micro and Colt Mustang. A friend is a big fan of Bersa from a value standpoint. Not a huge Glock guy, but would like some expert opinions on the various options out there.

Have you looked at the P938?

traded my 238 and got a 938. Basically the same size with cheaper and more powerful ammo

Speaking truth, 938 is awesome little pistol.

Why is that?

WMTF,
I may be reading you wrong, but to me it sounds like you're looking for a gun for pocket carry. I resort to pocket carry only when I can't carry a bigger gun chambered in at least 9mm. There are some 9mm's that can be carried in SOME pockets, but the right 380 pocket gun will fit better in pockets that a small 9mm won't fit in. I can pocket carry a Kel-Tec 3-AT in all my pockets; OTOH, my Kahr CM9 won't fit in some of my pockets.
The Sig 238 (and the clones you referenced) is a fine gun, but I prefer other 380's for pocket carry. I don't like the extra potential "snag points" of the 238 (beavertail grip safety, frame safety lever and external hammer; I agree w/ most that a 1911 type gun like the 238 should be carried cocked and locked, but this makes the hammer a nice "snag point.") I want my pocket 380 to have a snag-free frame, no external hammer, no external safety lever and a longer, DAO trigger pull.
If I were buying a pocket 380 these days, I'd look closely at the Kahn CW380. Although I don't have this gun, I've been pleased w/ the two Kahr's I do have.

Are you sold on the M1911 fire control system? If not, try a P239 - that's a classic Sig, in compact, single stack form. It is all metal, but the nicest little gun (not tiny, little) on the market, IMHO.
If you want to go tiny, I would recommend the tiny pistols by Kahr. Fantastic.

I have the P238, and it is a well-built handgun. It is a perfect size for LTC, and I take it with me everywhere. My Glock 19 is a more significant handgun, as the 380 obviously doesn't have the power of a 9mm, but it is nice gun for concealed carry. I highly recommend the 7 round clip with the grip extension, as without it, it is just a bit too small to grip and control.

Google "Kimber micro problems" and "Colt Mustang problems" and then you can eliminate those two from your search. The P238 is great because it is so tiny it can pretty easily fit into a front pocket. Make sure you are comfortable w/ the single action and thumb safety though. If I were you, i would trade in the PPQ for a Glock 43 or Walther PPS M2. Those are single stacks 9's that will carry IWB pretty easily although not in front pocket like the P238.
