Very impressed! Chazelle has balls of steel to pull this off as his second film and it paid off.
Did not go in expecting to like a Musical/Rom-Com as much as I did.
If you are like me and hate seeing the Cinema be broken down to SJW-influenced reboots and rehashing of old stories, support this wonderful, ORIGINAL work of art.
You won't be disappointed

Went and saw it with my wife last night and we both enjoyed it a lot. Wife is planning on going to see it again. Gosling and Stone were fantastic

I just thought everything about it worked for me. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have great chemistry from working together in the past. The songs were great. The choreography was great. The themes it hit on were great. The pacing was good.
******Spoilers*****
The ending is superb. The scene in the club with Ryan Gosling playing their song while we reminisce on their time together and see the life they could've had is so moving. It's so beautiful. My favorite thing on screen this year.
They both achieve their dreams, and they are instrumental in helping each other do it. Your dreams and those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities can completely change you and take you away from your friends, loved ones, family, etc. We have these moments in our life and these people in the seasons of our life that impact us in profound ways, and oftentimes they don't play a huge role down the road. Chasing your dreams often requires sacrifice, and this movie displayed it perfectly. It's not always mutually exclusive, but many times it is.
I loved that this movie ended with them making eye contact (also happened in Whiplash although the tone of that movie is much different). That moment Sebastian and Mia share in the club is just perfect. It's genuine and real. It's sweet. It's heartbreaking. You want them to be together, but you're happy they both got what they wanted.
I'm gonna go see it again, and I can't wait.

I'm probably biased because I have friends/family who have tried or are currently trying to make it acting/writing/etc. I get to see their frustrations and struggles firsthand, and so I guess this one just really resonated with me.
But it's genuinely a breath of fresh air. I will encourage anybody to go see this over Rogue One, Passengers, etc.

word. im an electrical engineer, but I do a ton of writing (screenplays, mostly) on the side and I'm too much of a realist to try and do anything with them. maybe this will inspire me

Thought this movie was fantastic. Amazing songs, great story, and Gosling/Stone were awesome. Overall my favorite movie of the year next to Arrival.

Yeah. I have a couple I've started and not finished. I also have an idea or two I haven't finished fleshing out. This has sort of inspired me to go for it and use a couple awesome connections I have to see what happens.

Edge of 17 was my pick
Went and saw that thinking it was a comedy. Whoops
Still really good movie, just much more intense than I was ready for that night.

Very interested in seeing this. Love Whiplash, and this looks great. I have a soft spot for musicals.

Hailee Steinfield killed it I had never heard of her other than the songs she has on the radio

Just got out of it. Decent movie. Don't think it's the best of the year though
