So Trump stepped in because Obama refused to veto UN resolution condeming Israel

SIAP, but sounds like Trump had to step in because Obama refused to back Israel.

Well they were our allies until Trump.

It truly is amazing that Israel threatened Obama that they'd go to Trump if he didn't back them, and then followed up that threat because they knew Trump could actually intervene to stop the resolution. And then Trump called up Egypt, and what do you know, Egypt decided to put a hold on the resolution.

Our interests and those of Israel are not always the same. Alliances traditionally are based on realpolitik. The problem some on this board have is that our alliance with Israel is unwavering and many in our government seem to be so willing to do Israel's bidding when it conflicts with our own interests.

I guess I'm going to have to go back and edit my post, so this thread doesn't get hijacked into a thread debating who is or isn't our ally. I wanted this thread to focus on Trump bossing Obama, not on whether or not Israel is our ally.
