There are always threads about people not liking the holidays, etc, but what about the other side of it.. What do you like about the holidays?

I like that its a change of pace for about two weeks (although I am usually always ready to get back to the regular schedule towards the end). Also, I like all the bowl games and seeing my friends kids get all excited about Santa.

The lights, the music, having family over for christmas day, drinking beer and frying a turkey with my dad and now as my son 2 he's starting to know who Santa is. Next year he should be really excited for Christmas.

Time with the family. I come from a very small family, and I'm lucky that I have awesome inlaws. So spending time with everyone is a lot of fun for me.

Also, becoming a father this year has made the holidays even better.

I think this makes a difference in terms of one's Christmas experience. My dad's side of the family was small, they still have a Christmas gathering, but it's just my aunt & uncle, who are in their late 70s. They have 3 children who are spread out so they all don't come at once so its not what it use to be, but on my mom's side it is a huge family. She has 7 siblings and its to the point where their kids have kids and many of them are people I only see that one time of year. Its too the point I don't even go to the big family gathering.. Its like that with my other cousins who are around my age because its mostly younger cousins who bring a different significant other every year. There are kids running around I have no idea who they are. Some are the kids of some cousins, some are kids from significant others previous relationships, etc.. Its been years since I have gone, but when I did, it was more hassle than anything and it just didn't make Christmas fun.

All the girls that used to be hot in high school back in town. Nothing better than seeing their fat selves meandering around the local watering hole praying to get knocked up.

My family is very fun to be around so I like getting drunk and cooking and eating with everyone. I really look forward to the little bit of time away from work.

Really? I can take it or leave it, but if I do drink it I can't drink too much of it.
