The difference in reaction is based on the unprecedented nature of the Trump himself. Trump had FAR lower favorables than Obama when he was elected.

Wait... If you dont understand this already i cant help you. Carry on.

We are hurting economically. We need a proven international businessman to straighten things out.

I'm sorry, as charasmatic as Obama was, fact is he was a rookie senator and community organizer when he got elected, & had far less REAL WORLD experience than Trump by almost 2 decades.

What do "favorables" have to do with the electoral count?

We had an election. Trump won. End of story. A rational adult would go "oh well, we'll have another shot in 2020."

No, the difference in reaction is the petulant immaturity of your average progessive liberal.

They think it's the end of the world because every democrat under 30 has not lost a presidential election that they voted in. They had it in their minds that being 2-0 meant that they would never lose. They were like young Alabama fans are now: entitled(and I'm a Bama fan). They've never experienced losing, so it seems like the world is crashing down.

That, plus the fact that these SJWs had never had their mindset questioned or debated. In their minds, they are 100% right and anyone who would question them or debate them would immediately get dismissed as a racist and unfriended. They lived in their own bubble thinking everyone was like them. This was a big reality gut punch for them, and these snowflakes have never been gut punched before. They don't know how to handle it. Crying and whining is all they know what to do when something doesn't go their way.

Not unlike being jilted by your first love. The thought of endless poontang is forgivable but unrealistic. Hard lesson that takes time to get over when circumstances turn on a dime.

What I don't get is the extreme emotional response to a fricking election. Crying over an election loss? WTF?

I have a BA and MA in political science, so ya...politics is kind of important to me. But I don't live and breath it like these proggy freaks seem to.

I dunno. Maybe I'm missing something?

These people have no clue what adversity means. You coddle children, this is,what you get. The coddling is supported in our educational institutions.

Don't get your way, hold your breath until they cave.

The participation trophy babies from the 90s grew up to demand safe spaces in college...

What the hell are they going to demand in the workplace?

Favorables have to do with the degree of discord and panic people have in processing the results. Trump is statistically the most unfavorably viewed man to ever win the Presidency. How would that not impact people's reaction?
And who said anything about electoral counts? Yall were comparing melts.

So many of those stupid opinion pieces you will see on social media led me to this: they're acting like they're the first group of people to ever lose something.

I think it goes even deeper than that. For many of them, this is the first time that the real world has ever told them that they are wrong.

Bingo. The generation that isn't used to being told "No" just got told no in a YUGE way.

Somebody needs to buy these special little darlings a puppy or kitten or something. That would keep them busy for a while.

I was watching a WW2 documentary some time back and they said re: the final siege of Berlin that it wasn't the Wehrmacht or even the SS that were the "bitter clingers", rather it was the Hitler Youth. Apparently there were cases the HY even attacked Wehrmacht troops trying to surrender. That type of fanaticism is perhaps more easily programmed into young, pliable minds and may be part of what's going on here.
