Even though I paid my way give me a reason to go. I am tired of seeing these people during the work day. I am only there to earn a needed paycheck why should I go

I don't go but in some companies you have to do that sort of thing to move up, or at least it helps.

I've never paid to go to a Christmas party for work. What did you pay for?

In my office managers had to pay to have it catered for everyone. I gladly paid and then stayed away. As I get older I honestly think I'd now be diagnosed with social anxiety- I derive no pleasure from small talk with people I don't want to spend time with. Easily worth the money to not have to socialize.

So you can take a picture of the 24 year old that you didn't give us any pics of.

Better than my place of employment.

I have to host it at my shop. It's a lunch BBQ.

I have to cook.

I had to go buy the gifts.

What kind of shitty company do you work for that employees pay their own way for Christmas party?

My real estate office xmas party is a blast! It was last night and I completely forgot about it because I'm so busy with construction. Wifey is pissed.

My husband won an iPad mini at his a couple years ago. His company has given out vacations before at the holiday party.

OP....last year we didn't go to his work party because my husband just didn't feel like going. However, because in his position it looks bad to not show up...he just told everyone that we had been given tickets for something else that night by a family member.

These threads are a good PSA for the young kids. It's a hard lesson to learn, but acting like the village idiot at your office party is not cool, even though employers kind of bait you into it.

My first company Christmas party, right after college, I got drunk off Scotch and I ended up calling a shareholder's wife a "filthy count" in front of everyone very loudly...

I learned my lesson about getting sloppy at work events very quickly in life
