Another one that's easy to hate is Armin Mueller-Stahl's portrayal of David Helfgott's father in Shine 1996.

David doesn't win the Australian Nationals

David gets a letter telling him he has a music school scholarship in the US

Jack was an awesome dad. Worked his arse off, provided for his family, took his sons fishing, built a tree house for Kevin, got dumbass Wayne a job, took time out of his day to give fatherly advice, didn't drink, didn't beat his wife and kids, didn't have a mistress, put up with his ungrateful a-hole in laws.......what more do you want?

Exactly...Kevin got a glimpse of what his dad had to put up with when he went to work with him one day. They guy took a ton of shite from others just to provide for his family. He was strict with his kids because he wanted a better life for them.

Daniel Plainvies (There Will Be Blood) was pretty crappy.

John Herod (The Quick and the Dead) was a real a-hole.

to be fair, he kept giving the kid a chance to stand down. Kid was too arrogant.

now, the pussy bartender who stood by while that scumbag railed his daughter...he should be a nominee.
