I would buy for $150 and have free tv until they crashed the cards and you had to pay some nerd to fix it. Is there anything like this out there today or am I stuck sending these jokers $150/month for tv?

You can stream everything online for free if you look for it.

I think it's up to them to make their system secure but if it's "stealing" then I view it as "speeding" when I go 5 mph over the speed limit.

I remember this. I never had Direct TV back then but remember friends doing this. Someone always had a "card" hookup of sorts it seemed.

I've got a feeling that thib-a-doe Tiger was who to call to reprogram your card.

An Amazon Fire Stick with Kodi installed. You can find them on eBay.

it isn't stealing. the signal is on your property. it is up to the satellite provider to secure something they are broadcasting to you w/out your consent.

Also had an emulator board that the card goes in, then the board goes in the box, and it's hooked to a computer. Worked like a card condom, made them less susceptible to getting zapped.

I think that The easy tv decoding is gone now. The last I saw of this was about 12 years ago. Some old computer guru buddies of mine had a Dish Network receiver wired to their computers which were constantly running description algorithms. This was 12 years ago on Dish. So, yea. I can only imagine what it would take now-a-days.

I was one of those "nerds" that had all of the equipment to re-program the cards when they got "zapped."
My dad loved paying the minimum to DirecTV and getting all of the sports channels and premiums, especially because Saints games were usually blacked out.
