I don't know if this is the right board or if it should just be on the OT. Thought with the knowledge of the program there may be more informed posters here on the Rant. Please move post if needed.

Who does the team use for Orthopedic surgeries, specifically ACL tears? Any suggestions on who is the best in the state; have to stay in state due to insurance. You can get a wide variety of opinions on who to use or not use. I am just trying to collect as much info as I can.

TIA

Dr. Bankston for sure and he is the best around. Just beware he will tear at your knee when he is initially checking it

I agree! BROC is the best. I am a physician, and had shoulder surgery there. They are excellent! There are others there that specialize in knees and have done a few NFL players. Just check out their website!

Dr Winder is another.

He rotates as an on the field ortho for LSU football each year.

He repaired my right ACL and a chip fracture in my right ankle.

Joe Laughlin at BROC used to be LSU's ortho surgeon. He did my menicus repair on my knee and my shoulder rotator cuff.
both completely successful. I would go right back to him.

if you live in BR there is no reason to travel out of city for an ACL surgery. regardless who your insurance is. there are plenty of very qualified orthopedic surgeons who can do this procedure.

There are two. Brent and Chip. Both terrific. Brent has been the long time team doctor. Did my son's ACL (right before Richard Murphy). Chip was the Panther's team doc, so he's no slouch either. Can't go wrong with either.

Dr. Deryk Jones at the Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute in New Orleans is a nationally renowned surgeon who specializes in knee injuries and is Sport Medicine Fellowship trained. He's also the Team MD for the Saints.
