I realize that a faction on this board prefers to spit hate and doomsday criticism of everything in life - especially Coach O and Alleva. However, let's give both a lot of credit for locking up Aranda and getting Canada as our coordinators. This is best combination,on paper, of OC/DC in college football. Alleva gets battered for hiring O, but I think this was absolutely the right hire, and both of them did what they had to do selling and paying these guys to come on board. Take note that Canada had other P5 offers on the table, and chose to come here. Good salesmanship.

No

This was mismanaged from last year.

I'm fine with our staff, but we backed into it.

They'll get credit after results, simple as that.

I am not touting Alleva, but he is the guy who pulled the trigger on O which I like, and carves out the budget to pay our coaches. Deserves some recognition since he was also part of the selling process to both coaches to stay and come. You've got too hate going on.

The search was a joke. We hired just about the lowest rung candidate possible.

We have two stud coordinators now. Let's see how it goes. Control yourself.

I'm not giving Alleva any credit on anything.

I'll give O credit for securing Dave and getting Canada quickly after he got Kiffin a job.

How many times does it need to be explained that Aranda was not hired by Orgeron?

If they produce the btching will stop. That is all. Just gonna be a long offseason. Wish the season was next week so we wouldn't have to listen to it.

The rest of college football sees it for what it is:
1. LSU, a perennial top 10 power was in decline under Miles and, after an embarrassing misfire last year terminated him mid season:
2. The program hired a promising OC after missing out on its first one or two choices and extended the contract for an excellent young DC;
3. It hired a unqualified HC on the cheap at a salary near the bottom of SEC HC's

Time will tell how truly good/bad these hires are, but the hiring of O, on paper, is a flat out shite hire. Simply no way you can spin it any other way (on paper). I hope he proves me wrong.

He kept him.
Pretty sure that's the fricking point.

Week or so ago that was the cry/whine session topic of the day on here.

It takes a certain amount of courage and optimism to try to win with this fan base , his window OF opportunity will be small 1

Agreed. I'm so excited our best coaches are our coordinators who will leave shortly to become head coaches elsewhere.

I give them a lot of credit for hiring Canada, I just wish they hadn't wasted so much time waiting on Kiffin, who was apparently just stringing Coach O along. But what's done is done. I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be a very good move. Listening to Coach Canada's introduction presser today, I was extremely impressed with the guy's outlook and attitude. I think LSU finally has the coaching pieces in place - a HC who won't interfere with the offensive play-calling and elite offensive and defensive coordinators. Now, if LSU can finish strong with the '17 recruiting class, this will be the most optimistic I've been in years about LSU football.
