Deeper (slightly) look into Pitt's (Canada's) passing stats this season...

Yards per completion: 11th in country (15.1 yards per completion)
Passing Efficiency: 11th in country (158.07 passing efficiency)
Pass Attempts: 295
Completions: 173
Touchdowns: 26
Interceptions: 6
Yards: 2613
Additionally, they were 23rd in 3rd down conversion (45.3%).
Anyhow, I don't think passing yardage by itself paints a complete picture. I haven't watched enough of Pitt to really have a good feel for his offense.
I still think Kiffin should be No. 1 pick because of his resume and familiarity of him...but still not sure if he really leaves Alabama this season if he doesn't get a head coach job.

Is it true he's only had 1 successful season?

i'm not "all in" on Canada, but I know of 3 without even looking
2016, 2014, and the last year he had Lynch at NIU

was Canada fired from NC State or did he just leave?

What was his quote? Someone asked him what kind of offense he runs and he said "the one that scores points"?
I think we need to get it out of our heads that our next OC hire is going to turn LSU into air raid. Just don't see it happening.

Wasn't the HC let go the year before?

All I need to know right here.
That and people on this board need to actually watch their offense in action before being lazy fricks and judge based solely on passing statistics

Not sure...I've seen some people say he was fired, but his wiki page doesn't say anything about being fired. So I don't know.

Scapegoat and their offense regressed after he left. Fanbase all thinks the HC fired the wrong guy.

Do you think he's a better hire than STerlin Gilbert?

Completion percentage under Canada -
2012 - 77th (58.4%)
2013 - 71st (58.5%)
2014 - 63rd (58.8%)
2015 - 53rd (59.6%)
2016 - 66th (58.6%)
Passing efficiency under Canada -
2012 - 61st (134.71)
2013 - 92nd (119.24)
2014 - 50th (134.90)
2015 - 70th (128.37)
2016 - 11th (158.07)
These numbers are perfectly average. I have no idea why some people here continue to cherry pick stats to make Canada look like an elite OC.

Dorean, the HC, and him stopped seeing eye to eye. Given our talent level at State, Canada did a good job.

Wasn't he quoted at the Briles Award ceremony something along the lines of "Its amazing what you can do when your Boss lets you do."
ETA: Here is the tweet I was referring to.

Matt Canada at Broyles ceremony on Narduzzi: "If your boss allows you the freedom, you have a chance to be successful."

I live in Pittsburgh now, and while I am by no means an expert on Pitt football, the general consensus up here is that he is a hell of an OC. And yes, Narduzzi lets him run the show just like he would have the ability to do with LSU. Pitt has solid talent but no where near the same talent as LSU. It is pretty amazing to see what he did with improved talent from NC State to Pitt, so it seems like he could do wonders with LSU's talent. I also think Etling would be a great QB for his offense. He also had James Connor at Pitt who had a great season at RB. Looks like he would establish a dynamic well-balanced offense.
