Who in the AFC can beat them with that defense?

If Trent Dilfer can Smith can

Denver if they can get a bit more out of their QB play

It's not really about their defense, it's about how they play.
Statistically, they are average on both sides of the ball but they just make winning play after winning play after winning play. They make big plays on special teams and score points off of turnovers.
(Didn't use this formula this game, but they have most of the season)
Some of it is not stuff that fully translates to playoff time...

I don't see them being able to go win in New England. Maybe they can, I just don't see Alex Smith being able to keep up with Tom Brady

He can't by himself but with a salty pass rush anything van happen. If Dallas has Houston at DE it would be game over.

He's had shite for weapons in KC. He's looked a lot better with the emergence of Hill and now he's got Maclin back to go along with Kelce. He's looked pretty good lately.

Brady wants nothing to do with that pass rush.

You better believe he remembers what happened against Denver in the playoffs last year.

smith needs a lead, if he goes up 14-0 he's got a shot. On the other hand if tom brady goes down 0-21 he's still in the game.

They can absolutely win in New England.
The Chiefs and Patriots played in the playoffs last season, which I think people forget. The Chiefs had more first downs, more yards, and dominated time of possession.
Obviously, they didn't win. And they wouldn't be favored to win. However, I think it's a good matchup. The Pats don't stretch the field too much, and if you give KC's front 7 a smaller area to defend, they are even scarier.
With Kansas City, I don't think it's about whether they can beat this team or that team. I think it's always just can they do it three times in a row. Well, now they might only have to win 2 in a row. And only one on the road.

Brady is going down, time to retire with his super model wife and start his career in politics, Chiefs want to assist him with that decision.

He's no worse than Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson

And much more intelligent and likeable.

Dilfer had a god tier defense, Kansas City's is near the bottom of the league.

I didn't forget, in fact it's part of the reason I said what I said. In spite of all of those advantages the Patriots still won. Granted this year the Pats aren't as healthy. Of course anything can happen but it's just hard for me to see Alex Smith winning in New England. I wouldn't mind being wrong, it's just a tough place to win in the playoffs

The Ravens and Jets have both done it relatively recently. Teams with great defenses that can get after the quarterback, and mediocre to good quarterbacks of their own.
The Chiefs certainly have the formula. Gronk being out only helps even more.
I think that's a game Kansas City could win 40% of the time.

Pats have a much better offensive line play this season. That Denver game was a product of terrible Oline play and being in Denver. And the pats were still a counth hair away from winning
I don't see Kansas City having home field over the Pats and I don't see a repeat of what happening in the AFC championship game happening
