As strong as usual. UF still has ungodly pitching. Bama will actually be much better. Vandy should drop off a little but not much. Ole Miss, MooSt, aTm will all be up there in talent. Not sure about Arky, Tenn, UGA, etc.

We played Bama a month ago, where's the preview? If this is it, you let all of us down.

Undefeated record. SEC & National Championship or else fire everyone and terminate the program. Same as every year

I'm already booked at Embassy Suites in Omaha. Answers question about expectations?

I've started putting together some research on the teams we play this year.
Air Force, yes Air Force, has a lefty that throws 96. He still walks a ton of people, but damn. They can also rake and return 8 of 9 position player starters from last years team that won the second most games in program history. Terrible pitching though.
I wonder how much altitude affects their stats, but they're in a conference where a lot of the teams are at higher altitudes.

20-22 sec wins and a trip to Omaha.

I really liked that young team last year. Coastal was just a helluva team!
I expect us to do great things this year and make it to Omaha.
This team is full of young leaders.
I'm hoping to see Duplantis build on his incredible freshman year

Just hope they can keep pace with other instate schools...ULL should be the Flag Ship school for Louisiana...then LSU with Tech closing on them fast...

the season can't come fast enough... and were going to the ship!

LSU will drop some midweek game and all the wheels will come off from the fanbase.
The good thing is the Houston College Classic will show if this team is ready!

Jordan Romero will emerge as the greatest baseball player of all time.

The team being put together will be the most talented roster overall since '09 and '13.
While I wasn't a fan of promoting Nolan Cain and inserting Micah Gibbs into the hitting coach role they deserve the opportunity to prove me wrong and I hope they will for years to come. I still think a few established names would have jumped at the opportunity even this late in the year.
A few quick thoughts that have been in my head since October...
-I love the move to get Deichmann out of the infield and into a corner outfield spot. He'll absolutely excel at the college level with his athleticism.
-The 2017 team will be the most athletic group Mainieri has ever put together, speed will be throughout the lineup.
-Hunter Kiel will be turn some heads and be a dominant force along with Newman at the back end of the bullpen.
-As people have said the two freshmen in (Smith and Slaughter) could very well end up finding starting gigs and will be All-SEC type players before their careers are done.
-The catching position will be extremely strong and the loser (I think) will slide to DH in February.
-Does Bryce Adams arrive this year or go quietly in the night?
All in all the lineup will be solid and there's enough guys fighting for spots that Mainieri won't be forced to keep specific players in because of defense. If one of the freshmen (Hess, Peterson, Walker, Reese) are able to throw a quality start consistently I would take a deep breath and enjoy what you're about to see.

What's the rotation expected to look like going into the season?
Posted on 12/8/16 at 10:33 am to Andy Bernard
Lol no
We won't get anyone better and there are too many good teams to win one every 2-3 years

I don't think each will be given a long leash, and this could be a one year move given the veteran lineup with a "search" being conducted throughout the late spring.
Nolan Cain worries me given the recruiting coordinator title. I don't care how much people sell the "LSU recruits itself", coaches grow as time passes networking, player evaluating, in game experience...I really don't know how much control he'll be given.

Lange, Poche, Peterson in my opinion.
I sincerely hope that we make an effort to develop a third and fourth starter this year.
