Dark nights always turn into bright days at some point. At least that's what I'm hoping

History repeats itself. The good ole boys had a stranglehold on the program in the 90s. They have it back now in 2016.

Bad analogy. O may fail but completely different coach than Archer and both very different roads to become head coach.
Archer was recommended to be hired by Arnsbarger when he left. Archer was considered a bright young defensive coach. His first 2 years were successful with Arnsbarger's players. The bottom fell out when LSU was preseason ranked in the top 10 with Hodson as a heisman candidate.
He failed to recruit....it was ...bad. I wonder now if those classes would be top 30 if ranking sites existed like they do now. For all of Curley's faults that roster he inherited was awful and no one could have won with those players. Archer was in WAY over his head. I think based on where Archers career went he was probably a decent defensive coach. He lasted awhile as a coordinator for Kentucky and NC State and even spent some time with the Steelers.
