Was listening to Mike & Mike this morning on my way in to work, and caught the segment when Ryan was talking about his time playing for Saban.

He said that Saban is allergic to Mediocrity.

That once during a game his senior year that Saban laid into him for missing a pre-snap check and when Ryan cut him off during his tirade he lit into him for another 40 minutes.
Said he told him that sometimes he lets him have it for small errors it's for the other guys on the team.
Doesn't want them to think that it is mistakes are ok.

Say what you want about Saban, but I believe the times that Saban lays into guys including Kiffin for mistakes even when they are up by 50 points is why they are #1 and we are #20.

Working with Saban may have been hard for Kiffin, but those butt chewing will be the reason he becomes a HC again....if he listens.

If he should come to LSU, and Coach O doesn't keep him accountable like Saban does. It will not end pretty for us or him.

You wouldn't be saying that if he was still coaching LSU and piling up the Natty's like he is at Bama.

Just saying he is a great coach and the success proves that.

so basically he is just reiterating why Saban is the best, something we already knew about him. He's always been a perfectionist. This is nothing new

You obviously hate cajuns Ace. If that happens and we end up 5-7 or 4-8, Coach O will learn from that. You don't need talent or instincts when you have the time to learn from your screw-ups. Even if it takes another 10 years of learning, isn't it worth it?

All those 5 years of "let them have it about errors" didn't help on the last play of last game for Saban at LSU.

05 Capital one Bowl is the culmination of errors that were not corrected by saban.

Lol. Your right. And I'm glad you responded.

I believe it sounds like I am all about Saban, and I'm not.

I just thought after hearing Clark, I believe that there are coaches, that will use every thing as a teaching opportunity at the risk of your self confidence, and those that don't want you to feel to bad about yourself.

Both have a place, but I believe the Burt chewing in hindsight hurt less when it saves you later, as opposed to being saved from a hurt in the beginning but suffering later.

Has anyone from the Sabah coaching tree had success?

Being an a-hole may make you successful. But it doesn't necessarily translate into others learning from you.

It's the other way around. You have to achieve some level of success before you earn the right to be an a-hole. You can become more successful by bullying people into conformity, but you can't get your start that way.
