This is a classic case of government thinking it knows what's best for the economy and being 50 years behind the cutting edge.
At least someone like Bernie Sanders is consistent with his terrible policy beliefs.

true dat!
The funny thing about republicans is that they were the "muh free market" guys when Obama was in office, now they are the "muh uncle sugar" party.
Strange. Seems like there may be more that logic and principles at play here.

got elected
i knew and so did he
that congress would not go for it,
he may work with dems.
He is a populist. I don't know what people are expecting, but they better buckle up, because they are about to see a healthy dose of 1960s democrat politics.
I'm sure that Trump's fans will make the adjustment quite nicely.

When did more gov't involvement, regulation, and taxes become conservative cornerstones.
NO frickING shite
Congress should stand the frick up against punishing companies, and instead push lower corporate taxes and regulations, and drastically lower any costs associated with repatriation.
Trump has a lot of seriously leftist policies that must be fought against, and this is one of them. Problem is, so many of Trump's supporters have stabbed their own brains trying to suck his dick. They have abandoned a ton of previously held beliefssimply because their alpha says so.

Republican may very well fight Trump on a bunch of issues. Trump is the only person they seem to have the balls to actually stand up against. They have been caving for the last 8 years.

Your thread title is a lie. They literally cited two reps, neither of which stated how they would vote on the issue.

they have always caved. they will cave again. they will do it as long as it makes more sense to cave than it does to fight.
Just like the tea party cucks who backed down as soon as they got to DC.

The only difference between what Trump proposes and several here espouse is the selective tariffs.
The President Elect(suck on that Cucks) also wants to eliminate regulation, lower the corporate tax rate and repatriate overseas money.
Tariffs will only be used as a last resort and as a necessary tool in negotiations with both companies looking to leave and countries that have taken advantage of Obama and others in trade negotiations.

I would add that a 15% corporate tax rate with some much needed deregulation, would render a tariff on foreign made American goods being imported virtually unneeded.

Well if those hardcore alt right California republicans oppose it, it's surely doomed by the rest.
Posted on 12/6/16 at 5:59 am to Vacherie Saint
It would only be imposed if it WERE needed.

Do you think "selective" tariffs are better?
IOW, he is going to have different laws for different companies/individuals. Sounds like the Rule of Law to me.

But the solution is corporate tax and regulation reform, which is in the cards.

Great, that's good. Leave it at that, and shout it from the rooftops. Bring business here because of a good environment.

Since when is the threat of a selective government tax/punishment/ANYTHING a good thing?
WHAT THE frick HAPPENED TO THE RULE OF LAW, AND EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW?

So do y'all believe in capitalism and free trade or bigger government involvement in business?
So confused by this board.

Before Trump this board was nearly 100% free trade. The reversal has been telling.

These people are rooting for a team now. They adapt their policy/ideology to whatever their team is pushing.

I see nothing wrong with America First. God knows Lurch hasn't worried about that much.
You leave here fine. Take your products with you because if you sell them here you will get the same treatment that US companies get in the markets that these companies move to.I see nothing wrong with that at all.
