As a manager, given the following two options, which would you go with?
A. Reduce all employees hours for the next 1-3 months
B. Cut 2 employees, with the caveat they may be hired back after the reduction, and keep everyone else at their standard hours/wk

Cut 2 employees.
Nice of you to do this at Christmas, prick.
J/K. Sucks having to make these decisions. Good luck.

Cheat each employee out 5 minutes.

What percentage of your workforce is 2 employees? If it's a small percentage itll probably be very easy to find 2 who should have been gone a long time ago.
Either way, shitty decision to have to make, especially in December.

Why don't y'all just figure out how to sell more widgets? Keep everyone working full time?
Corporate anorexia will cause burnout and losing your ability to do the business of your business, as good as it should be done.

Cut two employees. If you do not have enough meaningful work for the staff then reducing payroll does no good to solve your underlying problem

This isn't as easy as saying A or B. We need more info

20%. I've had to do this, every year, the last 8 years. I've always went with reducing all employee hours..I roll with the motto, 'Hey, we're a team...when times are good we all profit, when times are tough we all suffer.'
Notwithstanding is that most of my employees have been with the company 15+ years and receive above industry standards PTO.

The reduction period is really a guesstimate, it could be as short as 8 weeks or as long as 16 weeks.
Also noteworthy would be, this was the first full year where I wasn't asked earlier to save on payroll, until now obviously. I'd say my average employee made anywhere from 17-25% more YTD pay, than any other year.

Think I found a way to reduce some of that payroll you were asking about.

Do you have 2 employees that need to be cut?
If not I'd go with option A

Cut 2. and don't hire them back. Likely better candidates out there assuming you cut from the bottom.

Grandfathered clauses and shite. Not my decision. 70% of my employees are getting 7 weeks PTO/yr.

Agreed. The higher-ups normally cut hours/expenses from my department, whenever savings are needed..this yr was a big push to cut from other departments first. Those departments are now in their busy season, so the move as shifted into my area, as my dept. is in it's frick off season.

Ouch. Had a feeling there was some clause you couldn't change. Hard to cut hours when employees have that much PTO. Tough situation.

C. Pit your employees against each other in gladiatorial combat until two die.
Off of company property of course.
