Am thinking about replacing older spool bearings in my 10+ year old Shimano Calcuttas with ceramic bearings from Boca Bearings. Cost is $40/pair. Anybody try this out? Is it worth it? Greater casting range, smooth, etc. I also saw ceramic bearings from Hong Kong on eBay, but figure will try US made first in case I need to return. Thoughts?

If you backlash now, you're not going to enjoy them.

I have them on a couple reels, you can cast a long way with them, but you can create some serious professional overruns. I got something in one and its loud as hell, but still casts like a champ.

They're worth it imo, I have them in all of the reels we use regularly. They hold up longer and cast further, they are louder especially if you get the unshielded version, be sure to plan on adjusting the spool breaks or you'll have the backlashes issues mentioned above.

Have any of you tried the cheap ones from ebay ? I am probably gonna supertune and change bearings in my reels, but no way I'm spending 500.00 for bearings (I have 20 reels now).
