Mixture of both- have ability to mix it up and find success out of a variety of formations and not be one dimensional. Make the defense scheme to stop different looks to keep them on their heels. Keep the number of explosive plays up, that's what is exciting. When you're scoring points, the offense is fun to watch, no matter if you're busting 75 yard runs from the I-formation, or hitting a wide open deep ball for 6.
And no matter what system you run, if you're not scoring points, people will bitch about it. People are currently all about the spread and what not, but they fail to realize that those styles get shut down all the time. LSU's defense does it regularly each season. One poster mentioned that most of the top 10 teams run spread offenses or some form of it, I'm curious as to how many of the FBS teams in total run this philosophy. It's all about winning. And people here are tired of the same old look on offense, but it'd be miserable to watch the melt when a new 4-5wr, all shotgun spread attack results in just as much lack of production against our biggest competition. I agree something needs changing, but you gotta be balanced in all dimensions of the game and be able to adjust when things aren't working.

Spread
I think it's time for LSU to adapt and take advantage of the skill players LA can produce.

IMO, we can make a pro-style O work in the SEC vs Bama even. But to do that, we have to have an NFL quality OL to counter their NFL DL and a QB who can chunk it.
I would prefer we go the spread route with an aggressive passing game.

That Power Spread!! Urban Meyer made that offense famous and it seems as if half of college football is running some style of it.... It's new age offense and the only offense I've really seen give Alabama fits

Spread, Pro it's the same shite these days. Air Raid or Miles' caveman now that's a discussion. I'll hang up and listen

Back in Joe Gibbs' Redskin heyday, the Skins only had about 6 rushing plays, but they ran them from several different formations. The formation/player grouping didn't telegraph the play, as so often LSU did.
I did like Ensminger using the same grouping in different formations, i.e., moving the TE and FB to four-wide positions and back.

I like the multiple pro style system where we are under center and can pound the rock and also spread teams out to throw the ball. The running QB hardly ever wins championships but we def need to get our playmakers the ball in space New England and every other NFL team does this and that's what would produce the greatest results. I know ppl think we need a running qb to beat bama but the reality is no QB has beat bama recently by running the ball those wins were by teams that spread them out and had great success throwing the ball.

But DO want a DT than CAN throw the ball.

The running QB who can throw(in college) is in fact winning plenty of championships. WTH are you talking about.

I do not understand why in the modern age of football, and with the talent we are able to recruit, why we cannot find an offensive coordinator that is committed to blending and using aspects of both.
Well now we can, now that Les Miles has finally been fired. We can also probably get descent quarterbacks now too.
I can tell you that if I were a good quarterback or a good split end from Baton Rouge when Les Miles was still here, no way would I have signed with LSU only to have my career harmed or destroyed.

Uh you may have missed a few...
2014 Ohio State - Cardale Jones (killed it running and throwing)
2016 Alabama - Jalen Hurt (heavy fav to win this year)
If Bama wins this year, it will be 5 of 10 DT QB winning national championships since 2000
In terms of conference champ. - 2014 Alabama - Blake Simms (moved from RB to QB as 5th year Sr.) won SEC
