Ratings are down hugely.

Will Benson want more from tax payers to maintain his income? Will the state balk since the economic impact of the NFL is so much less? (Have you missed the "economic benefits" so overstated by subsidy supporters since the NFL downturn began?)

Do ratings have any impact on the TV contract?

I know they would have an impact on future contracts. Would the current contract say if ratings go down the amount we agreed to pay to the NFL goes down?

Aren't NFL stadiums pretty much a losing proposition for tax payers?

Yes and the subsidies on top of that simply compound the loss.

Our subsidies are somewhat disguised after the crony deal Jindal did with Benson. Instead of richer direct subsidies he ended up with buildings rented to the state at rent rate many consider too high.

those subsidies were always a vanity thing than an economic one.

New orleans probably does better than other cities in terms of the subsidy but its still a shitty deal for the taxpayer.

Much like that shitty carrier deal.

I do think it's mostly the election and a little bit of Kaepernick / ESPN SJW'ism that accounts for the ratings.

I did not give a frick about the NFL until November 9th and then my Saints (and secondarily Packers, where I live) are both at or under .500.

The Broncos/Saints game and yesterday's Lions/Saints games were the only 2 games this entire season that I got remotely "fired up" for and watched on legit TV.

Now the season is over.

I have not watched a game all season, will not watch Super Bowl, unless NFL decides to grow a pair, I will avoid them like the plague

Like a lot of NFL fans I've been watching my team's games (Saints) and that's it. I watched one full Eagles game with a friend of mine at an Eagles bar during the Saints off week, but other than that outside of the Saints I have not watched the NFL at all. Haven't watched a single Sunday night game all year.

I think a lot of us are going the whole "I'll watch my team but nothing outside of my team" mentality.

Should have put a no-suck clause in the Saints and Hornets/Pelicans deals
