I appreciate your hospitality and allowing me to join in the discussion of the HC search for LSU.
From an LSU fan perspective, here would be my biggest concern with hiring Orgeron:
First the positives: Great attitude. Loves LSU. Loves the state. Fantastic recruiter. Loads of energy.
Now, the concern: A lot of coaches specialize on one side of the LOS. Easiest example for me is Bobby Bowden. He virtually turned the defense over to Mickey Andrews and had almost nothing to do with it. After one Spring game he was asked about the defense. He replied simply, "Mickey will have them ready to play." Nick Saban, on the other hand, is far more involved in the defense.
I know Orgeron is a DL coach. But, from what I am reading he sold himself to Alleva as being able to hire a great OC and DC and let them run things.
So, what is his job? Recruit and motivate?
That would be my concern. Exactly where does he fit in as far as game planning during the week and, more importantly, on game day when snap decisions have to be made?
Thanks again. I've enjoyed getting to talk with y'all.

Your concerns are shared by many of us. If one side of the LOS is struggling during the year will he be able to assist or is it just "do better, boys".
Anyway, glad you enjoyed your time here. Hope you stick around for the sheer entertainment value.

Pretty much exactly what everyone thinks. O is likely going to require and always be dependent on good Coordinators. Time will tell if he is an upgrade from Les.

His job is to find a great OC, recruit, motivate, and be an ambassador for LSU

Wow what groundbreaking insight you added, no one here has even thought of this yet

People really believe that CEO knows nothing about offense and nothing about defense after how many years in the college ranks. Some fans are idiots. Must be the accent.

O is exactly like dabo swinney. How's that working out for clemson?

Yeah that's the plan. Coach ed orgeron will be the ceo, literally, and have two coordinators that will be given free reign on their sides of the ball. Aranda should be left alone. He has turned this defense into a national force in just 1 year and it will only improve in the coming years. I think lsu will hire a slam dunk, homerun offensive coordinator and will give him full reign of the offense. In essence, we will have a head coach (coach o), a defensive associate hc (aranda), and an offensivery associate head coach. I believe it is a great idea to get top flight coordinators at lsu under orgeron and pay them the highest salary in the nation ...while coach o motivates, organizes, and controls the running of the program. I like this approach we are taking.

Let the coaches coach. His focus should be on motivation, managing his teams work load, program direction, recruiting, and developing them into men. The coordinators and position coaches deal with the technical details.
Coach O says "I want an offense that can do X, Y, Z".. and he hires someone who can do that. That's all there is to it.
If LSU is committed to providing the cash to make LSU the best place for a coordinator to work it should work.
Real question is what kind of success is possible if you have the athletes and the best coordinators available..

My concern is an overzealous or fancy OC putting our defense in a bind and the HC not being able to step in and regulate
