Beating Nebraska would be a great way to end his first bowl game.

You have beaten this horse to a puddle of gelatinous yuck. Let it go man. O was hired. 3-21 at Ole Miss sucks. That being said, it is experience and it may prove to be invaluable. Here is a positive spin on your main gripe and Chicken's post. Dabo struggled in his first few seasons. Perhaps it was because he DIDN'T have head coaching experience. Orgeron does have that experience to rely on. He doesn't seem to be meddling with the OC or DC concerning game day which is probably a by-product of that experience. Those saying he is clueless are hoping that is the case to support their agenda. I can't imagine that O doesn't have a rapport with his coordinators. As for the comment about the spread after stating he wants a pro-style offense, I would imagine by stating that, he expanded the list of potential candidates. It's almost as if some "Tiger fans" want LSU to fail to prove them right. I wasn't a Miles fan, but that was AFTER seeing that he was predictable and stubborn, not before. Leave the dark side and become a Tiger fan again. If O fails, throw a party as Aleva will probably be gone as well. You are in a win win, if LSU wins, you can gladly eat your words, if not, you are a genius about to unload a shite load of I told ya so(s). At this point, either support the Tigers of don't. But leave the 3-21 alone man.

Dago went 4-3 as interim and followed with
9-5
6-7
10-4

In his 1st 3 full seasons. Man, that's a tough sell after firing Les for going
9-3
8-5
10-3
2-2

Not a Miles fan and the program was obviously declining, but still a tough stretch to endure in 'hopes' for a Dabo turnaround.

Well Clemson back then and LSU now are totally different situations so no you will not see a losing season, especially with Aranda on staff. Even without I think he would get competent people here to replace. Now 10-3 and maybe an 9-4 may be possible until he gets everything straight but I think you could also see a very positive turnaround at the same time, 12-1 or 11-2 could very well happen as early as next year. I do hope it works out that way. I do think Dabo is far more an exception than a rule with interim coaches. But all I can do is hope O is another of the rare exceptions because I do want LSU to do well and soon not 4-5 years from now.

Great research, I think O is in better shape then what Dabo inherited. The plus for Coach O is this, he has had HC experience and will have learned what works and doesn't work. He knows for sure that all that really matters is that he produces victories(not close games) on the field. And of course a NC.

I hope it turns out as well as Dabo, rather than Alluvia's hire of Ted Roof.

quote:

When head coach Carl Franks was released midway through the 2003 season, Roof was promoted to interim head coach. The team finished the season by winning two of the last three games and Roof was subsequently hired as the 20th head coach at Duke on December 6, 2003. However, after winning only four games over the next four seasons,[2] he was fired on November 26, 2007, having compiled a 6–45 record. Despite the dismal record of Duke teams under Roof, his aggressive defenses consistently ranked in the top-30 nationally in tackles behind the line of scrimmage.[3][4]

Coach Roof's enthusiasm makes him successful. He has a passion for football. He lives, eats and sleeps football, and that rubs off on everyone around him (but no current playing field). Football is his first priority, but it goes deeper than that. He asks us our thoughts on the game plan, and then asks about our classes and families. It's a big thing when a coach cares about you and Coach Roof is so genuine. He really brought us together as a team.

No its not. Clemson had zero top 20 finishes since 2000 when dabo was hired.
Dabo also took over play calling and oc duties during his interim tenure.
Its not close to the same situation.

Thanks for bringing some "facts" to this board.

Except they arent. Clemson wasnt even having top 20 finishes when they hired a position coach. Dabo also wasnt 55 years old and had spent 29 of his 32 years as a position coach.

These situations are nothing alike. Dabo wasnt hired at a program where 10-3 gets you fired.

You were called a fool because its foolish to equate the program status of Clemson when they hired dabo, and the program lsu is now.

The real comparison is would Clemson hire a 55 year old career position coach right now? Im guessing no.

Its easy to sell an up and coming coach if your program isnt even finishing in the top 20 for half a decade. Clemson's best ranking was 21st since 2000.
