From earlier today -

quote:

If you’re convinced through a two month vetting process that Tom Herman is the next Urban Meyer, (caps lock because he literally starts yelling) GET YOUR BEHIND ON A PLANE, GO TO HOUSTON, SAY I DON’T CARE WHAT TEXAS WANTS, WE’VE BEEN HERE ALL ALONG. YOU NEED A LITTLE MORE CHEESE, WE’LL BRING A LITTLE MORE CHEESE. YOU’RE OUR GUY, WE WANT YOU AT LSU. YOU WANT TO COMPETE AGAINST THE BEST, NOW COME ON AND BRING IT. WOULD YOU LIKE TO USE MY PEN OR YOURS?

It’s SALES. I do it, we ALL SELL SOMETHING. Sell ourselves, sell widgets, you sell whatever you sell. Joe Alleva had to sell his job against the best job in the country, and instead of DOING IT, INSTEAD OF GOING TOE TO TOE, LOOKING THAT MAN IN THE EYE AND SAY TOM, YOU ARE OUR GUY, you've been our guy ALL along. We had an agreement at 5, if it’s going to take 6, it WILL BE 6. You’re our guy.

And instead of doing that…he walked away, and said forget it, I got a guy that wants the job. I got a guy who wants me.

SHORT-SIGHTED. YOU SETTLED.

Noble…but I would have much rather had Tom Herman.

Also had this to say -

quote:

LSU football regressed 30 years in 1 day.

It's just stunning to me that our athletic director will do what's best for his own personal sensibilities, over what would be best for the program. He's wasn't willing to invest energy into a search. He wasn't willing to negotiate when Armstrong was simply doing his job, and ultimately, he wasn't willing to do what was best for LSU.

He made a naive assumption in a multi-million dollar poker game, threw a temper tantrum when things got a little tough, and walked away because of his ego.

Every word of that is dead on and anyone who disagrees with it is an absolute idiot. Joe Alleva is a spineless coward who sold LSU's football future down the river so he wouldn't have to do his job and maybe upset some fans/political insiders who wanted Coach O. The dude should have never had another chance to work at a college again after what he did to the Duke Lacrosse team and I am ashamed that LSU was the one to give him a soft landing place after the absolute abortion of a job he did at that university. Regardless of what you think about Coach O, everyone should agree that we don't need this guy representing LSU athletics and he needs to be gone yesterday.

That is why this assh*le needs to be fired immediately. I started a thread about firing Alleva immediately and it got whacked.

Its sales. Herman didnt tell Alleva No. He wanted to hear the Texas offer, but we have an idiot for a AD. Sell the program Joe, sell it and make the hire that keeps you here another 10 years. Instead of selling it, he settled. He will be gone in 2 or 3. Mark it on the calender.

I keep coming back to how firing Les Miles, only to replace him with Coach O (the damn D line coach) advances the program? The answer is that it doesn't. There is no way to justify it.

We are on the front end of our long journey into the football wilderness that was LSU's program in the 1990's. Folks that like this hire are just too young, didn't live through it or are completely blind to the type of coach it takes to win....really win.

Alleva settled and we did not get a championship winner in Coach O.

You'll be damned if you see Culotta say those words. It was disgusting listening to him and Prince have a party this morning.

"Hey Prince can we have coach O whenever the season's over"

"You know I have your back Jordy. Anytime"

Maybe, just maybe, Herman told them if TX was available, he was going there. And probably said you can use any excuse you want to the press, but I want TX over LSU.

Last time.....if Texas was available, NO other schools had a chance. And No ONE can outbid Texas if it comes to that (which you don't want)

LET IT GO. He was only ours if Texas keeps strong...which I was told was never going to happen. He was gone regardless

Wouldn't have mattered. Trace Armstrong did not want any part of that. Trust that.

EXACTLY! Alleva F-ed this up & drug LSU back 20-25 years. The way he handled this process was almost criminal. His vision for LSU does not involve building & maintaining championship level programs. He is an embarrassment to LSU & needs to be fired then horsewhipped in the Quad.

I agree that Aleva is a coward as should every LSU fan. But saying that this set LSU back 30 years is retarded. No one knows that and our best years can still be well ahead of us.
