It's not Coach O, it's the administration that does not give me confidence.

First the way the Les Miles situation was handled. Joe Alleva has defined himself as an indecisive and feckless leader.
Is F. King running the show or is Joe Alleva running the show? If F. King is running the show why even have the position of Athletic Director? Under the current set up it appears that F. King simply needs a glorified administrative assistant to carry out the role of AD.
Second it's about recruiting. WE NEED PLAYERS OFFENSIVE LINEMEN AND LINEBACKERS. By not making the decisive decision to fire Les last year and hire Jimbo we are falling behind on the recruiting trail. There is no doubt in my mind that if Jimbo were coaching the 2016 Tigers we would be way ahead with many recruits that are currently off our board. Can Coach O make up for the mistakes and lack of leadership at the administrative level? The question can be answered in two ways; how well can Coach O recruit and how many wins does he earn next year.
Third, did the administration only consider Jimbo, Herman and CEO in their coaching search? If so, that is a terribly small list and more evidence of their incompetence as leaders.
I hope and pray CEO is very successful and I will support the Tigers the best that I can however CEO has been dealt a very difficult hand by the administration.

It's the good ole boy network similar to the 90's.
Get ready for mediocrity.
Get ready for mediocrity.

well said.
I'm not mad at Oregeron or the hire. I'm upset that this is the third or fourth straight screw up from Alleva and company.

He has shown that he is very reactionary and emotional when it comes to decision making, which is a horrifying attribute for anyone in a leader position.

Alleva and Fking need to go. Clown dicks. Both of 'em.

You need to remove King from the equation as well.
A new AD is going to be powerless if King is still here running the show.

how long can we whine about this. it's not only history, it's ancient history and it's not relevant anymore.

they said they did. they said they vetted about a dozen potential coaches. vetting is not just a background check; it gauges interest in the job. it is likely we will not know how this thing came down for a few years. in the meantime, people are free to make up what they want to. that's cool; I just wish they wouldn't present their fantasies as fact.

the whole process was mind numbing in hindsight.
He allowed, once again, the media to dictate his decision. He had months to prepare for this behind the scenes and he let every fan under the sun state their opinion. The media got involved and lobbied too. You can't let that happen.
You get your guy, don't allow your fan base to start dreaming/scheming, and you move on. He sat around and let this become a PR nightmare.
Now he has a divided fan base, upset alumni, and will be gone in less than two years.

They both need to go before they tank the program completely. They went into this coaching hire thinking they had an ace in the hole Coach O, to leverage against elite coaches. Said they werent going to "overpay". No elite coach is going to change schools for the going rate. The prices always go up, but just like franchise QBs in the NFL, you cannot win consistently without an elite HC in college.
Basically they see the football program as an expense rather than an asset to invest in. They dont understand that the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. Really is sad because Saban showed us the way to success when he was here, and now we've come full circle back to trying to do things cheap and easy.

The timing was wrong to hire Herman due to his affection for UT & Charlie Strong's incompetent coaching. Coach Fisher feels he has a better chance to win a natty with his current players so why go to LSU. Money was not a factor, winning a natty was, makes since.

If Alleva hired Orgeron before the coaching changes board got out of control with rumors, it wouldn't be such a mess. But people were running around all over the place saying 'big time coach A' is coming to LSU, it's a done deal. The AD allowed people to get their hopes up.
In the grand scheme of things, Orgeron isn't a horrible hire. People think he's a horrible hire because they think we settled because we couldn't get our dream candidates. Alleva didn't run this show like a great athletic director should. He wasn't decisive, wasn't stern, and got played from every angle he could have been.
At the end of the day, it's a horrible time to be looking for a head coach (especially for LSU). There just isn't much out there right now, especially with ties to SEC recruiting.
I truly believe O will be a great coach. I'm willing to give him time to correct what Miles allowed to slowly suffocate our program over the last 5 years. He will hire the best coordinators, increase spending across the board, and recruit players that we need to compete.
But Alleva should be judged harshly for the way things played out over the last 8 weeks. I hope Woodward still loves LSU and is willing to come home if we need a change.

I don't want to pile on anymore b/c it's bad for LSU however I'm disgusted by the way the last year has transpired and it is the direct fault of the administration.
The way the coaching change transpired has had a direct impact on wins and losses and recruiting.
But I'm ready to move on and Coach O has my full support. He's going to need it because the administration has put him in a very difficult spot.

Yep. There's a very good chance this fricks us for a decade. Cause, short of going 1-11 next year, O is going to get at LEAST two years. Probably 3.
A lot of fricking damage can be done in 3 years.
Alleva completely shite the bed and now, we just have to hope he got dumb lucky and O somehow defies all probabilites.

You are correct... I would suggest that there would be more interest in the LSU job if Joe Alleva was not the AD...

Underwhelming hires have been the standard at LSU for decades, this isn't just an Alleva/King thing...
