LSU is pioneering a change in CFB. Give a motivator/delegator the HC job for significantly less than others and hire the top offensive and defensive minds for top money and be able to retain them. LSU'S success moving forward will change everything about CFB coaching

I hope you are right about that. However, LSU was already employing this strategy while overpaying for Miles. We've had great DCs but were horribly overpaying Cameron. Unless a team "hits" on both its OC and DC the best you can expect is an 8 or 9 win season. If a team does hit, in my opinion, it's still a long shot that it will win a championship. I think for that, you need an elite HC that instills a culture of excellence like Saban, Harbaugh and Meyer.

Can anyone credibly argue that O is an elite HC? Is it reasonable to assume that he will grow into that role?

Since it is not reasonable to assume O is that kind of guy, the best he can be considered is a sort of caretaker who will keep the program from sliding until we hire an elite coach 3 or 4 years from now.

Does anyone dispute this?
