this "Herman and his reps upset at leak" stuff - I gots questions

1) why is it assumed the "upsetness" is aimed at LSU - hasn't it been confirmed (more than once) that the leak didn't come from LSU? Yet every paragraph in which I've seen this written positions it with the assumption that the Herman folks are upset at LSU.
2) if the Herman camp is mad about it and blaming LSU, can LSU convince him otherwise tomorrow?
3) can I go to bed now?
ETA: here's the point - assuming that the part about Herman, et al, being upset is actually true, then based on the actual words written and repeated within these reports, it could JUST as likely mean that Herman is aggravated with UT.
Scenario:
1) LSU "offers" Herman via his agent.
2) Herman's agent leaks to UT in order to gauge interest/exert leverage
3) UT folks leak to media
4) He mad.
Too late for an old timer. Carry on, young bucks.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure every suggestion at him being upset is firmly rooted in the interview on ESPN today. The other details added, i.e., who's at fault, who he's mad at, are simply being added by writers/media to fit whatever narrative they're trying to portray.

You could be right, and I hope you are.
I'm kind of a "words have meanings" guy, and it frustrates me when people say "OH! HE SAID 'XYZ," but when you read the actual words, they say nothing of the sort and are highly ambiguous. But the narrative is quickly set and oft repeated.

Unless Orgeron and Pomansky were playing 4D chess and leaked it to the Texas site.

They're all taking the same exact event and seeing it through their own biases. Some base their reporting on what they expected to hear, some what they want to hear, others maybe exactly as they see it. It really leads to a complete melting pot of contradictory information. It just proves how very easy it is to mislead or twist stories.

Lsu had nothing to do with the leak. It was the worst thing to happen. I have no idea what's Herman is upset about.
His agent is to blame. Facts don't make sense

The leaks almost have to come from his agent, himself, or someone at LSU. No one else would know about it unless one of those three leaked it.
The whole " Texas leaked it" thing is nonsense. How did they find out in the first place?

The harder you push that he shouldn't be upset about it, the more upset about it he would be. He might be able to get over it but I wouldn't push the issue in a meeting.

Yes

It got into public from Texas. "Prominent UT sources" were the first ones mentioned.
How TF is that LSU's fault? What... LSU boosters called Texas boosters? That about the totality of this theory?

It has been said that his agent leaked it to UT to get them interested and moving on with a decision. They then saw the opportunity to stick it to LSU .... and gladly did.

If he wanted it kept quiet, then how did it get out?
How did Texas know? I'm not saying they directly called the boosters and gave them into but LSU let it slip in some way. That would certainly be LSU's fault.
This is all based on him being upset about it being leaked though. It's pretty much the only explanation if that's true.

My GUESS would be his agent leaked to them. Don't know the guy, that's just the logical assumption.

That's the most logical assumption of them all but doesn't apply IF it's true that Herman is upset about the leak. The Agent isn't going to do anything Herman doesn't like.

Agreed. But I'd also then think (and hope) that Herman's folks would 1) know that, and 2) be angry, though not at LSU, and 3) all the "Herman mad at LSU" is media...mediaing.

It COULD still apply IF it's true he's upset, but not about the initial leak....rather that the UT folks put it out to the public.

If Herman's camp is upset about the leak, then they should direct that anger at Texas. LSU had nothing to gain and everything to lose by that getting out. Texas stood to gain

I guess my actual point is this: it could be true that Herman is "upset," but upset not that his agent leaked something to UT, upset that UT put it out for public consumption.

Thanks. I'm out.

You can't say who he should be angry at when you don't know the details. There's about 50 possibilities about what actually happened.
I could see a scenario where he's mad at LSU, UT, or his agent.

Why would a coach be upset with "leaks?" It drives his price up at Texas. It drives his price up at Houston. It drives his price up at LSU.
What, is Houston going to fire him for flirting with other teams? Wherever he goes, if he wins games, no one will care about some stupid leaks. He has all the bargaining power. I really hope these coaches aren't the emotional little schoolgirls people are making them out to be.

Well he could do all that without it being leaked to the public.
The downside of it going public is his players hear it. The fans hear it. Everybody hears it. Makes him look like a POS to a lot of people even though that's simply how the business works.
It's also a trust thing. If I asked you to keep it out of the public then you go around spouting off about it, I'm going to be pretty pissed. It also tells me something about how your program is run
