It's beyond my comprehension why LSU fans make a big deal out of this. It's ridiculous.

I'm sure Ohio St makes such an enormous deal out of U of Ohio being the university of Ohio

Childish.

Actual LSU grads don't seem to give a shite. It's sidewalk or Southeastern/ULM/etc. fans that seem to give a shite.

Watching LSU fans get mad is the only reason I really keep up with the name issue, tbh

Probably has more to do with the fact that Ohio University is over six decades older than Ohio State University, and was established with that name.

Whereas, ULL has gone through several name changes, and is nearly four decades younger than LSU and six decades younger than the original University of Louisiana (Tulane). With the most recent nomenclature being less than 20 years old in the case of ULL, the fact that ULM also had a name change at the same time, and the odd pushiness/desperation to be known simply as "Louisiana," it's easy to see why so many in the state get aggravated with ULL's naming bullshite. It's as though they are embarrassed of who they truly are, and are putting on airs to be something they are not.

Why is their mascot name not simply Ragin' Cajuns? Had to find another place to thrust that they are "Louisiana" onto the landscape? Would the nation not assume that Cajuns come from Louisiana?

I just think that if the state is to call a school the "University of Louisiana", it should be academically equivalent to what that name represents.
We have one U of La (called LSU) and the taxpayers haven't shown any inclination to fund another.
