Me and my family are headed to the dome this weekend for the first time and I was wondering where is the best place to park without a pass? Thanks

Harrahs. "Gamble" for 30 minutes ordering beers on a slot machine and validate your free parking.

If you are going for cheap- get there early and street park or gamble at harrahs (Need a free players card)

If you want to make it easy pay cash to park in the Dome or a lot around the Dome but know that traffic will be bad after the game and you are looking at ~$40 to park

I park right across from the dome on Poydras. I believe that it is the City Municipal Garage.

They will open at 10am and cost $30. It takes me about 1 hour to get out after the game.

Pay the $25 and park at the Dome.

You'll be in like (Matt) Flynn and beat the traffic to I-10.

If you can swing the outrageous $50 park here. You are out the parking lot an onto the I-10 West on ramp in 5 minutes. You may get sticker shock from the $50, but I just drink one less double in the Dome and call it even by not waiting 1-1.5 hours in traffic.

Is everyone in decent shape to walk?

I park on Baronne for free and walk to the dome. I'm on the Westbank Expressway 20 minutes after I leave my seats. It's a little less than a mile walk and I don't have to deal with a parking garage.

Parking at dome is easy but more pricey
Most people park at lots and walk a little

I'd just park on St. Charles and ride the rail car. It's a fun way to get there, and you won't have to fight a ton of traffic to get out.

How does this work? Do you swipe after 30 minutes or something and it goes back to the parking attendants?

there is tons of free parking around the dome.

There are really good spots for $20 as well.

or you could park the next lot over for $20 and get out even faster. $50 really?

lol

Also your map shows you going up the off ramp. If you look at where the "P" in poydras is that is where the $20 lot is, you get out and go right up the onramp.

As long as no shitty JP cop is directing traffic instead of a NOPD cop.

If you go to the left of that there is the free parking, but depending on the police getting out can be a bitch.

I try to park on Poydras itself and then go to Broad, then get to Washington and then to Carrolton then to I-10.

Municipal garage used to be okay. This year has been terrible. I park off Lasalle. Walk isn't bad and traffic isn't as bad as Poydras area.

you get a free Harrahs playing card at one of the customer desks. All they need to see is your license.

Usually comes with a free perk like a free buffet or potentially free money.

you then put your player card in a slot machine and put like a dollar in(say penny slots)

bet 1 play 1 and occasionally spin. In the meantime you can order drinks from your slot machine and play on your phone.

If you time it after 30 minutes you can cash out, go to a validate free parking machine inside the casino using your card and it will read your minutes. Your card should have the minutes registered on your card and it will honor your minutes played and print out a free parking voucher that you will hand to the parking person when leaving the garage...DO NOT LOSE THAT VOUCHER!

I usually end up paying $3-4. I get safe parking, 2-3 free beers, and some cocktail waitress made a couple dollars.
