If they're not going to hire O, and the guy they want is still in limbo with his team...instead of just having the players in limbo or a 2nd interim coach for the bowl game, would LSU just decline the trip and focus on putting a new regime in place?

ZERO PERCENT.

Why the hell would they turn down money/publicity. This idea is so dumb.

1969/70 season....they were slated to play in Cotton Bowl against Texas but Cotton Bowl decided to ask ND to break their bowl game hiatus.....LSU was asked to play on Peach Bowl again but felt that game beneath them and decided ad a team to stay home that year. Remember, (maybe not for most of you...too young) not many Bowl games in those days....

They'll ask Ben Simmons, and if he gives his permission, LSU will go bowling.

This is one of the dumber things I've ever read here. Regardless of the coaching staff, the extra 15 practices are huge in getting young guys ready for the next season. There are program benefits to going to bowl games and hopefully no one as dumb as you is making the decisions on that.

Ole Miss pulled the redshirt off a 5-star QB just to increase chances for a bowl and the 15 practices associated with it. Like an extra spring practice session.

As uninspired as I am by whatever crappy bowl we end up with, it's not only about the fans and the future.

Having something fun for the kids who are not playing in the NFL and who have worked hard is important.

With Alleva you never know.
He just might.
My guess is with contractual obligations the SEC will make LSU play in bowl.
LSU will probably mail it in. Jr's who are leaving and Sr's will play not to get hurt for draft. Fournette's career is over, he won't play vs A&M or bowl.
