How hard are you going to melt if Mitt Romney is Secretary of State?

Me?

I wouldn't give a frick.

He likely will not be some neocon douchebag that's modeled the same after Hillary and Dubya in wanting regime change everywhere in the Middle east and Romney will have to act at the pleasure of the president with regards to what he wants which is a realist and pragmatic foreign policy that doesn't go all in on neocon warmongering and regime change but doesn't shift us backwards to radical and clueless isolationism that does more harm than good to american interests abroad.

Besides, Trump is inexperienced as frick about a lot of things and he needs a capable internationalist in the job who is worldly enough to perform the job that America needs it to be done. Rudy isn't going to cut it.

I don't melt over anything in politics, but I would be disappointed to see Romney as SoS.

Only because the guy was blatantly against Trump as a presidential candidate.

And somehow he gets one of the top positions in the administration?

Doesn't add up.

I wouldn't mind. It would be good to get at least one "outsider"

Turning enemies into friends is one of the oldest things ever in politics.

Nixon actually appointed George Romney as HUD Secretary after he campaigned against his friend Barry Goldwater in 64 and against him personally in the 68 primaries. Those were bitter campaigns.

Still hoping for Bolton and a foreign policy that is not ashamed to be great again.

But Romney would be okay I guess.

Bolton maybe be neocon and establishment to the very core but he doesn't have a shot in hell of winning confirmation even with 51 votes from a republican senate.

Nobody would trust him as he represents one end of an ideological extreme.

Besides, Rand Paul already said he would filibuster him and that will be easy to do as he only needs all the democrats and a few other like minded republicans to join him.

I'm good with Romney as SoS. He's run a government before and appointing him won't cause a House or Senate vacancy.

Approved.

Trump has earned the benefit of the doubt after what he pulled off - who are we to question this guy?

Mitt Romney is a good man. He's smart, not a war monger, calm and of high character. Trump prides himself on surrounding himself with great talent and delegating. He could do a lot worse than surrounding himself with people like Mitt Romney.

As to Mitt's comments during the election, he wasn't wrong necessarily about what he said. Let's face the facts... we supported Trump because he wasn't Hillary. Not because he'd have been on the top of most of our lists of people we'd have chosen if we'd have carte Blanche. It would actually show great leadership on Trump's part to let bygones be bygones and make that pick.

he'd be a fantastic choice for that role; he is immensely qualified & would give a strong sense of stability & seriousness to the Trump cabinet that no one could credibly argue against

I know, I hate him for what he did during the campaign & yes I am disgusted with him

But he'd be a fantastic choice for Sec State

I don't see how Romney could stab Trump in the back from a SOS position
